Well we are having advert filmed in our house today which means the place of full of people and there is a marquee set up in our front garden area with loads of equipment and they are praying the rain does not return. This will end up being a few seconds of the Xmas advert (oh dear, am I allowed to mention Xmas yet???) for TK Maxx. So when you see the lady sitting at the table with the shaking teacup because the builders are excavating a basement next door, that's my old fashioned kitchen.

Ironic because we fought off our neighbour digging a Chelsea style basement last year. Caused a massive ruckus in the neighbourhood with a lot of us long term residents fighting the influx of extremely rich City slickers who try to run roughshod over the rest of us. Neighbour said he would what he pleased when we said we would fight him on that bl--dy basement. He told us to 'bring it on' and was astonished that so many other neighbours objected and he ended up taking it off his planning application. He seemed to think that because we are Seniors (in our 60s) that we are stupid. More fool him.

Oh yes they are p*ying -- our cat has demanded part of the fee for being imprisoned all day in the bathroom. Amazing how many people it takes to make a few seconds of an advert. The front garden and pavement are cluttered with them.

Oh that's fun! Are you on a locations list or something? Will we hear muffled miaows in the background when the ad airs?

We are on a location agency list but this one was done with a location photographer just scouting around our neighbourhood. Son thought he looked OK and let him in to take pictures.

Amazingly we were chosen this time as often these advert people say the kitchen/living room are just perfect and then decide it is not perfect. Or sometimes they come in very sniffily and don't say a word. I want to say to them --' Just pretend you like it and be polite and leave but don't put your noses up in the air at my home!' As for muffled mewing in the background well our lovely Paddy is being quiet at the moment and hope he doesn't decide to tune up when they start for real. How many does it take to make an advert? An awful lot it seems.

Hope the rest of the day goes ok and Paddy doesn't get too cross! I'm not sure I'd like to do that, but if the money was good enough it's probably worth putting up with all the hassle!

For a few seconds of ad, it can take days to film. OH was in the persil ad many years ago, he was picked up for a few days in a car at 5.30am in the morning to go to the studio, and returned late at night, and the ad aired for a few seconds over a few weeks! You blinked and you would miss my OH!
