really there was no big screen on the main stage???
How could they have charged £70/day for this then? That sounds unbelievable!

I went to feis after enduring the £20 freebie italian cube for three hours. I too was surprised no screen and left binoculars at home in assumption. Missed waterboys, undertones and shane mcgovern but in queue for periperi chicken a lad said they were s**te anyway. Don't like Christy Moore and Bob Dylan's was more gravely than ever. Sang along to his rendition of Hard Rain before having to leave for mounted police near stations. Found more londoners present than Irish but the craic was fine and the rain stayed off mostly mainly muddy on main pathways and usual suspects covered. Saw someone with brand new white plimsolls !!!!!!!! Stage 3 was best area, good tunes and great atmos. would go today except train fare makes it out of reach

We went to the feis yesterday too. 12 of us in total. We got ther just before 3pm and had to stand in the longest que I've ever seen it went out the main gate of the park !!!
I enjoyed the music but there rest of it was so badly done. If I had p**d £70 I would have been asking for a refund.
But have to say the cranberries were the highlight of the day for me. Even tho we couldn't see them very well as there was NO screens. They sounded superb. I have to say a band that I've always wanted to see. :)
We left after them tho couldn't wait for the que for the loo's. And in the words of their own staff its a free for all don't bother que with these people just walk up and dive in there. It was madness

We were at Feis too last Saturday. Got there quite late after 7pm, but totally forgot to bring ID! Was asked for ID but luckily the guy believed me when I said it was in my other handbag which I did not bring (I never take handbags to festivals), and just waved us through. We managed to get through to the main stage, about 10 rows from the front, but tight squeeze though, better at Southern Sounds, people gave you more personal space! We saw Cristy Moore, I actually enjoyed this type of Irish music, and so did the people all around me, who were all Irish and singing along. We stayed for Bob Dylan, and agreed with annabrett, he sounded more gravely than usual, and since OH had to be up for a flight at 5am, we left before the end to avoid the crush out! But yeah, no good, no big screen, and so glad I did not have to p*y to get in!

Went tonight to the world premiere of Two Boys at the Coliseum, a social media murder mystery, loosely based on a true story. Won tickets from Don't Panic - counted 12 email addresses in the winners email, but they had 50 pairs to give away, but only 5 couples turned up! I suppose opera is an acquired taste. Incidentally, the theatre was packed!

Unfortunately, being up at the crack of dawn this morning at 6am to enter the Olympics ballot, I was flagging a bit and kept nodding off in the first half.

This is a modern opera, sang in English, and it does not help when the story and the stage was actually quite dark, and grimy, the music quite monotonous and dreary! I was in upper circle, good seats mind, but the singers voices did not seem strong enough to carry upwards, so it sounded quite tinny. I much prefer opera sang in a foreign language as it sounds so much better, and have been lucky to have experience of seats in the stalls where the voices are much more powerful and strong and so beautiful that it captivates you, that it does not even matter if you don't even understand the words. Saying that the set of Two Boys were actually quite well done, and the acting was quite good, once I managed to stay awake for the second half, as it got quite exciting and there were more action.

I knew I should not have gone for a coffee afterwards with my friend, as now I am wide awake! :wall:

Anyway the advertising for the opera - If we live our life as we do online, is quite funny!

It's titled "Can I be your friend?"

Sunday was a lot better at Feis. The massive bob dylan contigent didnt return, and some sumptuous gentler sounds and sunny weather were on offer.

still not worth £70 though, not half!

Went to see Graffiti Classics at Udderbelly yesterday. They specialise in making classical music accessible to the public.
Here's a sample:

If you have children, take them to see it, it's a very nice way of breaking them into classical music. It was oddly entertaining, but thankfully only 1 hour long, it's not the kind of show that stretches to 2.5 hrs.
Whilst it was funny, I thought it was abit hard sell, telling the children in the audience if your parents don't b*y you their CD, they don't love you!! and the main character introduced everyone in the band apart from himself saying "you can find my name in the inside cover of the CD" and then he made another joke about excess baggage fee on Ryanair if he has to carry all those unsold CDs back to Ireland 6.5/10

I had lunch in the outside seating area by there on Saturday and they were playing to passers by at the riverside.

Anyone been to the itunes festival shows? Do you know how strict they are with i.d.?

I missed out on Paul Simon tickets, but I'm in London anyway and I'm tempted to get some from ebay.
