Re: IT Help, Please
There is an absolute way of removing all viruses from your system but its rather drastic and should only be used as a last resort. The complete re-installation of windows, preferably on a brand new hard drive. Before we get there we should try things like
http://www.malwarebytes.org/lp/lp4a/?gc ... tAodhWwAMA
or
http://systemtools.winzip.com/mp/prodpa ... tAodDz0AIg
or even a full anti-virus scan.
Its probably a lot more effective if you do these scans in safe mode
Its press the F8 key at first boot up before any windows logo appears. I press it repeatedly myself. Then select safe mode from the menu.
Safe mode is a diagnostic level of windows which loads minimum drivers and little else. Most viruses and malware shouldn't load so should be easy for a scanner to find.

I can't believe I've managed to pick up another one whilst trying to get rid of this one! Re: IT Help, Please
Valda, I found this programme got rid of all the nasty malware that had attached itself to my browser etc. Most I thought I had denied but they went ahead and installed themselves anyway.

The free version is very good. Make sure you do the full scan.

thanks to you both for the advice, I've gotten rid now, through lots of fumbling around, so I don't even know what did it

Re: IT Help, Please
If I have two or three laptops being used from the same router, do they all have same IP address please? Or put another way, is an IP address particular to a laptop or to the router?
Re: IT Help, Please
The router has IP range it gives out so each item on your network will have a different IP address

On a PC, if you open up Command Prompt (cmd from the Run box will do the trick), typing in ipconfig will show the specific IP address being used.Sunny Saver wrote:Thanks alameals. I didn't realise that till now.Why am I an idiot?!
For i- devices, it's under Settings, Wifi, the network being used, then if you expand details, there you go.
No idea re macs, I don't use them.

I believe it is in system preferences>Network> then click on the connection you are using and it should be on the detailsasamaic wrote:On a PC, if you open up Command Prompt (cmd from the Run box will do the trick), typing in ipconfig will show the specific IP address being used.Sunny Saver wrote:Thanks alameals.
