Woa - was that really the same actor playing Carlos Solis? Imdb suggests so but can shaving off a beard make that much of a difference? He looked like a completely new man.

Yes that is him. I thought exactly the same as you and googled it too to see wikipedia said the same thing too! I thought it was someone completely different!Beate wrote:Woa - was that really the same actor playing Carlos Solis? Imdb suggests so but can shaving off a beard make that much of a difference? It becomes more apparent in the later episodes - it definitely is him.

I'm so sad The Inbetweeners is now over. It was one of my favourite shows.

I thought same thing. Even his eyes look different and he sounds different too. That was very clever facial hair imo lolBeate wrote:Woa - was that really the same actor playing Carlos Solis? Channel 4 and E4 are determined that nobody miss it. Including the plus 1 channels the first 2 Eps are showing 8 times over the forthcoming week.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:Watched the first episode of Event. Boy these TV series editors love their back and forth timeline editing. Everyone is doing it. It used to feel quite radical at one time many years ago but its becoming so saturated and tiring.
Having said that, The Event show promise in an intriguing storyline, felt like a pretty good hitchcockian style little thriller. Havent warmed to any characters yet. They better not take too long with that...which was Flashforward's downfall. Characters should always come first then the story premise so that we can be engaged with their predicaments.
But this feels very Flashforwardy but I'm beginning to realise its looking a bit too ambitious, and would dangerously fall over its feet, as happened with Heroes, Flashforward and many others. Lost is an exception, but it got away with plotlines because the characters and relationships were absolutely dynamite from day 1.
But the first episode was good enough for me to look forward to the next episode of The Event :)

All the different flashbacks are already annoying me.

Yep, the flashbacks are relentless and not done with much elegance either. Still, somehow, the story is exciting enough for me to watch the next episode. But I dont see this series lasting longer than one season.
