It looks like the Birmingham fare from Manchester to Birmingham isn't going to be lower than £10.40 as the ones from 2 Saturdays before are going up so may be worth booking it now. Nottingham and Liverpool still look promising

Liverpool has reduced the fare for the following Saturday and not the 5th April looks like the cheapest fare is £4 each way instead of the expected £3 which is a bit mad as Nottingham looks like it will be £5 each way when its eventually released. TheFox must be the favourite with British Rail

These fares are AMAZING (and make me quite envious) when you think that even for an off-peak one-day Travelcard (i.e. into and around London) I now have to p*y £15.60! Deals for Manchester travel seem almost too good to resist... but I'm still recovering from my last experience with the train operating company I'd have to use.

So I emailed East Midland Trains as I was thinking there must be an explanation as to why the Saturday’s either side of the 5th April were reduced and not the 5th.

This is what they said ………………………..

Thank you for your email of 29 January 2014 regarding booking tickets for the 5 April 2014.

I regret that the Advance tickets for this journey are yet to go on sale, as we are awaiting confirmation from Network rail on some proposed timetable changes (as a result of the Grand National). As soon as this is confirmed (hopefully by the end of the week) all tickets we be on sale.
