Just finished Raymond Chandler's "The Big Sleep" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I need to check out the radio broadcast which was on the other day. I saw the film in the cinema so I didn't find it too difficult to understand!

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.
Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

In theory I love reading but rarely seem to do it, though I'm full of good intentions and always have library books on loan. I just keep renewing them until I get sick of the sight of the same heap reproving me! I think reading is a habit and I fall out of it too easily. It only takes one riveting read to leave me wanting to start another book straight away, but I find it really hard to settle down and start reading in the first place - I am always running around or jumping up to do something.

Just started "Never Let Me Go" on Audiobook (free offer from Guardian.co.uk), and so far I like it... I hope it will fill the gaps left by the film :)

Dittoed to the extreme. I want to increase my vocabulary as I sometimes write scripts and the like, but sometimes I just can't bring myself to read. I’ve just read another brilliant book by Michael Connelly. Nine Dragons is another book featuring Harry Bosch, and is a good read. Highly recommended.

I'm just reading a book about The Palace of Versailles and LouisX1V which is really interesting but as it's in French I can only read 4 pages each night as I have to really concentrate as languages are not my strong point. I will make an effort to improve.

the first book I read in English was Harry Potter (1)... what a nightmare! I had to stop every 2 sentences and get my dictionary
