Yep, wouldn't be surprised if tennis was one of the first to sell out. Just look at the queues at Wimbledon every year. So if tickets go on general sale on Friday 6am to people who got nothing, when do the rest of us who only got a couple scraps have a sniff?

Yeah thats why I applied for them, I've never been to Wimbledon. Would love to go.
I was interested in maybe the football final too, I think there's probably only tickets left for the earlier rounds

Those who got a 'few scraps' have to wait a few more weeks to see if there will be any leftovers--my email says:

"This starts with an opportunity for you to request some of the remaining tickets from 6am on 8 July to 6pm on 17 July 2011. These tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and cover a great range of Olympic sports Download the full list of available sports."

I can't see there being any great range of Olympic sports left by then.

The Standard published a list of what's still available and what's sold out and said that even the sports that still have good availability (probably because no one is interested) will most likely only have the expensive price brackets left. They advised entering competitions, that's how bad it is! Meanwhile, countries like Libya have been given hundreds of tickets because no one has thought of throwing them out of the Olympic Committee.

If you have super quick fingers then a small allocation of tickets goes on sale on ticketmaster at 9am each day for the following day's play (centre court). You really do have to be refreshing really quick to snap them up. It's a fantastic day out but I probably can't go this year

Ticketmaster must be making a killing getting the wimbledon contract and olympic contract for selling their tickets!

the only sports I applied for were Basketball and Handball... funnily enough, they are categorised as non-oversubscribed... well indeed, if you look closer, most of the WOMEN events are not oversubscribed...
sadly I am really not interested in women events :(

Every time I have tried to get Wimbledon tickets from ticketmaster, they sell out within seconds. :(
