Or a data recovery specialist company but they won't be cheap!

We use these when users have stored data locally on their workstation (instead of the servers) and their workstations have crashed.

Hi Beate, I had that problem and it turned out i had a virus of some sort on my laptop. I did a full system scan and told the software to delete everything infected that wasn't vital to the operating system. It cleared that problem. This may help :-)

Yes, you can repair it (sometimes) - but it always depends what's broken... It may be the wheel worn off or it may be the optic element... but to be sure - need to open and check. Better go & b*y new.

I can't send mail in Yahoo, keep getting this message:

Remote host said: 554 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons. See http://postmaster.yahoo.com/errors/postmaster-28.html [BODY]

I checked that link and it says:
If you received this error message, your message was not delivered because Yahoo was unable to verify that it came from a legitimate email sender.

How can I verify that my email address is legit?

Thanks.

I can't get into twitter on my home computer. It just tells me that the webpage cannot be displayed. Yet, the site is not down. So what's wrong with my computer? I have no firewall on it.

Oh that is worrying. I tried it via Google Chrome and I am getting this:
Cannot connect to the real www.twitter.com

Something is currently interfering with your secure connection to www.twitter.com.

Try to reload this page in a few minutes or after switching to a new network. If you have recently connected to a new Wi-Fi network, finish logging in before reloading.

If you were to visit www.twitter.com right now, you might share private information with an attacker. To protect your privacy, Chrome will not load the page until it can establish a secure connection to the real www.twitter.com.

What does this mean?

I am trying. I am also trying to download a more thorough antivirus but it won't let me as it's throwing an error at the point of installation telling me I need some windows updates or something. Something's wrong but I am not sure how to fix it. Google Chrome told me earlier that Windows had stopped providing updates for Windows XP on 8 April. I think I need Mr G.
