Looking back at what I wrote for 6 degrees, I did mention the set as very bare, but I think it was at least it was appropriate to that play. Design for Living is very different though ;)

superhero, thanks for the review. Sounds like you had a good time.

raj101, I really liked the 6 Degrees of Separation set.

superhero wrote:There's not that many plays! but something like Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart and plays where quite a few free tickets will be giving out, I still think merits another thread, imagine having all those Bon Jovi posts stuck on here mixed up with posts about 6 degrees of separation? It's not great, but as I mentioned at the end of the day, we're a film site.

Also I looked recently, there's actually not that many FMUKers that interested in free theatre relative to free films (which is a shame)
You do make a valid point there. I guess one might create an additional thread for those ad hoc situations, or split this thread into one for threatre and another for concerts?

There already is a thread for gigs/concerts that I created a while ago. You could use that to review concerts on.

We do have a music/gigs thread already, but just from memory there were loads on the Bon Jovi thread.
Concerts are alot more popular than theatre on here (or maybe just Bon Jovi ones ;) )

I don't mind ad hoc having a separate thread for something people thinks will be popular (I thought Design for Living might be), but it's up to the bosses! ;)

I saw Design For Living last night too. In a word......long. In two words.....too long. I knew there were three acts but I didn't know we'd have two intervals. I did enjoy the dialogue and I found it witty and quite provocative but I have to say I got bored. I thought it was a nice set and the acting was impressive (so many lines to learn) but to last longer than three hours is just too much. I'm pleased I went on my own rather than invite anyone else along.
I think I'd give it 6/10.

I agree we don't need any more threads (and really who would decide if something is going to be popular so should have its own thread -- let us make up our own minds) but I am always happy to get free theatre tickets and hope more tickets will be offered for Design for Living as I would like to see it. I agree too that not everything the Old Vic has done has been terrific, but I am very grateful for the chance to see those plays for free. And most of the reason there isn't so much conversation about plays is that the tickets are very last minute and you have to be lucky to get them.
