But what does that mean? It only started to appear a couple of days ago and I am concerned by saying yes I might leave my computer vulnerable.

My computer went back to the classic windows 8 start page after my computer problems and the system refresh a while ago so I dont have a start menu as such do I

Do I need this? If not, how can I stop it appearing?

You can always try to uninstall it from control panel - programs and features.
If that doesn't work then download it again, install it, then uninstall it.

I haven't got any coverage on my O2 phone right now. Upon checking the live status page there appears to be a problem "in various locations across the UK" though I can't seem to use the location facility. But how come OH's phone in the same room seems to have coverage? Is this normal?

I had the exact same problem, Beate. It lasted a few hours where I had no service at all. Seems to be back to normal now.

Hey!

The only thing i can think you may have done is archived all sent items , if so they will be under the "more" option > "all mail" on the left hand side

Failing the above you could always ask Gmail - apologies if I'm stating the obvious.

thanks for the advice,

I tried looking at help forums but Gmail are a bit hostile! Anyhow, I think somehow a filter was created to delete anything sent by me, but I've no idea how, or where all my sent mail went. I found some in the bin though
