I had a day pass at excel and it was good fun. Saw a few team gb people get through to the next stage of table tennis. Great atmosphere and great to choose your own seat
. Only complaint is the lack of baby changing facilities there, had to change Isabel on the floor even though there was a sign saying there were baby changing facilities. I was also glad to take my own lunch as the food there did not look very good. Swimming tomorrow and athletics on Thursday, can't wait.

I wonder how easy it is to get into see things at Olympic Park today with a Day Pass. I am not sure exactly how the Day Pass works. Did they have this Day Pass scheme during the Olympics?

No they didn't have them during the Olympics.

My impression is that the day pass tickets gain you entry into the park and then work as standby tickets for the sessions, ie no guaranteed seat but if there is availability, you can gain access to the venue to occupy the empty seats. They announce over the loudspeaker in the park which venues still have availability for day pass ticket holders (basketball arena, riverbank arena and the copper box). The day pass ticket holders also have a separate queue from the people with guaranteed entry to that session.

That's what I am thinking too. I hope my friend doesn't have to queue too long today, looking on TV, it doesn't look like there's many spare seats...
It's a great idea though to make sure the seats are filled.

I had a day pass yesterday, we saw Football & Goalball in the morning, & wheelchair Basketball in the afternoon. We didn't have any problems getting into anything, there are big signs around the park telling you what events have seats available. There was only a very short period of time in the afternoon when Football & Wheelchair Basketball didn't have tickets available, but we'd seen a match of each by then and were going to eat before going to the Athletics in the evening. Your tickets are scanned in and out of the day pass venues so as soon as people leave those seats are made available again. We didn't have to queue to get in anything either, I thought it all worked really well.

I wonder what people who have b*ght tickets for the actual event think though, when you p*y £30 for athletes and people with a £10 day pass can get something similar (although not guaranteed). You got to love these day passes though £10 and you even get a travelcard!

Athletics I had b*ght separate tickets, you can't use them for Athletics, Swimming, Velodrome etc. If you b*ght tickets for Goalball, Football & Wheelchair Basketball, they all come with a day pass ticket for the other events so everyone was in the same position, I got my day pass with my Basketball tickets.

I guess they wanted to get bums on seats for the smaller events that weren't so well known. I believe a certain number of seats for were reserved in each venue for day pass use, but it was all general admission & sit where you like when you get in, we had front row for Goalball. I'm glad we see the Football with the blind players, how they manage to play so well just by sound is amazing and my son loved the Goalball.

Sorry it does not work out that way. In each of the venues you mentioned there is a designated seating area. Now if all day pass tickets holders head for one and the same venue then there is a problem. Other than that your fine.

I think that's what they planned to have but they didn't even have the designated seating area's yesterday, it was all general admission past having your tickets scanned, tickets weren't checked again and once in the venue you sat anywhere you liked. I guess they only admit how many day seats are are allocated for so that actual ticket holders can get in, but I wouldn't be surprised if the allocation was at least 50/50 for day passes/tickets.
