Can you go into a bit more detail on why you think this? It sounds like an odd criticism.

fetta wrote:Managed to see it over the holidays. Quite disappointing for me too. I am not a huge Bond fan, but usually enjoy them in a bubble gum and popcorn kind of way. Aren't they meant to be stylish, polished, exotic locations, Bond saves girl and World, etc.. Well this seemed to be all the opposite. Girl dies, Bond meant to save M but doesn't, World not in danger anyway, funny looking villain and locations looking depressing. And I do feel that images like MI6 getting blown to pieces should be banned.

Overall at most 5/10 and the 5 go to the funny villain Javier Bardem, it was a pleasure watching his art.
You didn't think the Neon Jellyfish scene in Tokyo was stylish and exotic?

Also many Bond girls have died in the films over the years.

Why should images like MI6 being blown to pieces be banned? You think it might give terrorists ideas they haven't already considered?

My apologies, the Neon Jellyfish scene was breathtaking, the floating casino was also most certainly exotic. As for the MI6 scene, I know it may sound odd to most people, and I know it would never be banned on the basis that I feel uncomfortable with bad vibes being put out there... Also I can't help feeling that there are people that will rejoice at this sight and we shouldn't give them that joy even if its make-believe.

There are always people who rejoice in such sights, be they real or part of a Movie. I didn't consider that aspect but I don't you're odd for doing so.

I agree that skyfall steered clear of typical bond film cliches but thats what I liked about it. It was more in the mould of a bourne film, a bit less realistic but we dont always go to the cinema for realism. Yes bond isn't particularly likeable but why should he be? he's an orphan who kills people and gets his arse kicked for a living then gets shot by a colleague under orders from his employers! I probably wouldn't have returned to work at all after that! I felt that M appearing to be a weaker character served to ease the succession of ralph fiennes, proving that her time was up. I don't agree that the franchise is chauvinistic either, remember that M is a lady and women in bond films have been a match for james mentally and physically in the past. I think it was received so well because it turned some typical bond features on their head, we learnt more about the man and MI6 and had some guerilla warfare, it even had a bit of homosexual innuendo! Its not going to win any oscars for screenplay but it is bloody good fun and I'd p*y to watch it again.
