TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot

I have 2 dvd recorders with hard drives, sky+ hd so I can record 4 things at the same time and watch another! Its all I do, TV, movies and books. Its finding the time though to watch it all, especially on the good film weeks. NOw if only I didn't have to work./

Does any look forward to b*ying the Radio Times/TV Times Christmas editions? I remember when I was a kid these were exciting, and I would circle around all the programs and films I will watch. With just 4 channels back then, It was all simple and more exciting...I feel that magic is gone because now we just spoilt for choice everyday.

Wow Mr G, is there no end to your talents? You should be a millionaire by now - a geek in computers and exercise, what more could one want.

I remember going home at Christmas, dragging a video recorder with me as Mum didn't have one. I'd already gotten the TV Times and gone through it with my highlighters, deciding the must see, the records, and the maybe's. I'd more or less fly into a tantrum if any dared to ask to see something that wasn't on my list!

BTW I'd also have a video recording at home whilst I was away.

In later years it was a lot easier with Sky+, just b*y one for the family home as well then all's well. Unless there's a power cut or something freezes and non of my shows tape.

Being a professional computer geek and a home entertainment enthusiast, I build my own mediacentre (with a pleasingly aesthetic living room look case), that has 4 Freeview tuners, using the Windows 7 built in mediacentre software and a seperate storage hub. As a result there are millions of programs recorded that hasnt...and never will be watched! Whats great about the software is that you can program in keywords such an actor's name etc and whenever a program/film shown anytime in the future, it will be recorded automatically. It also combines all the on-demand channels (such as Iplayer, ITV player etc) in the same interface, so absolutely everything, including personal media files is accessible from one remote control. The only thing it doesnt have is Sky but I dont subscribe to that because I am under the impression Sky is extortionate and lack proper customer service. Also, my tuners are not the new Freeview HD, and I dont see any available as PC cards as yet. But I get my HD fix with the On demand players and Blu Rays.

WOW!! I'm impressed!! There is so much more I'd love to watch if I had time! You don't need Sky, it is overpriced repeats!!

I too look forward to the Christmas editions coming out & force the kids to watch my old favourites!!

lol, now that was dedication! Now awadays, did you know you can now stream your recordings to your mobile phone or laptop? There are different ways but I use Slingbox which I think is the best.

I'm a lousy businessman, my marketing sucks, and b*y too much stuff that depreciates to zero in 1 week so I am far from being a millionaire, I struggle to even being a thousandaire.

Is anyone else watching The Event on Channel 4? Am I letting myself in for another Lost? I've stuck with the first half dozen or so episodes, but am not very committed as yet. I might give up on this one.

Funnily enough I gave up on it this week. I realised I wasn't really interested in it so deleted it from my Sky+. It never grabbed me like Lost did and I wasn't really interested in the story or the characters

I've got enough other programmes to be watching, at the moment, top of the list is The Walking Dead, I'm really into that show and its only been 3 weeks.

Sadly Pillars of the Earth and Downton Abbey have finished, I really enjoyed those 2 shows.

Funnily enough I gave up on it this week. I realised I wasn't really interested in it so deleted it from my Sky+. It never grabbed me like Lost did and I wasn't really interested in the story or the characters

I've got enough other programmes to be watching, at the moment, top of the list is The Walking Dead, I'm really into that show and its only been 3 weeks.

Still sticking with The Event but it hasn't really grabbed me either although the building collapse at the end of the last episode was quite exciting.

Enjoying The Walking Dead too but with only six episodes in the first season did they really have to spend so much time showing women doing the washing in the 3rd episode. Do that kind of thing when you've got a longer second season and you have more space to show the reality of trying to survive in situations like that. Still I've heard the next episode piles on the gore again, which can only be a good thing.

Only 6 eps? Oh man that's no good And yeah that was such a strange episode, I was waiting for something else to happen, and then it ended. Anyway how come the women have to do the washing?

I watch all kinds of sci-fi series, but I gave up on the event by the end of episode 2 which was back to back with episode 1. I gave it a chance and was completely bored with it.
