About a month ago I taped Rich Hall's The Dirty South which was shown on BBC 4. Finally got round to watching it and thought it was a fantastic documentary.

Hall's delivery is spot on (he does like to rant but it works for him) and his take on Hollywood's portrayal of the South and the promotion of Southern stereotypes was really interesting. The documentary also references some American classic movies including Gone With the Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, In the Heat of the Night and Deliverance (that film is the stuff of nightmares - and something that Hall argues has stuck in people's perceptions of the Deep South).

Not sure if anyone else caught it but if you are interested in this area or American cultural history then do try to catch it.

I watched the Girl with a dragon tattoo last night in preparation for Sundays sequel screening. Had to watch it in English as was not in the mood fr subtitles. Thought it was fab the way it keeps you in suspense about Lizbeth (not sure if thats spelt right). Looking forward to Sundays screening even if I am going to be on my own .. hopefully will meet some of the other FMUK'ers there. x

Latest ep of S3 of True Blood.

My embarrassing girl-crush on Eric grows more intense as the season starts to wrap up. *swoon*

I watched The Hurt Locker. I'm not a fan of any sort of war movies and this didn't change my mind.

Sorry it was Saturday but I watched the Bourne Ultimatum... I am probably one of the last people in the world to have watched this... really enjoyed it and noticed it left lots of spaces for another Bourne Film.... does anyone know if this was definatley the Final one?

Went to a screening of Barbarella at Portobello Film Festival, reminded me of just how silly that film is... apparently it was shocking when it came out in the 60s! Very comfy seats at the new "pop-up" cinema under the Westway, and free popcorn too... result!

Gladiator on Blu-ray .. I forgot how impressive it was. Ridley Scott has made so many unforgettable films, he's one of my favourite directors.. bring on the Alien Prequels!!

I just watched Eastenders for the first time in years... just to make sure Peggy really does leave . I never saw so much dicking around to leave a burning building and remembered why I stopped watching it!
