There's no escape from Xmas, is there, even for resisters like me who don't send cards and try not to eat mince pies: went to John Lewis, looking forward to my free tea and cake (holders of their free card now get a voucher for free drink and cake once a month), only to find that they were so busy that they couldn't replenish the display fast enough, so the only cake available was Xmas cake! Not my favourite, but I forced myself, obviously...

Got a card through the door yesterday (even though I was at home!) for a large parcel. Went all the way to the depot to collect it and it's from OH's daughter. Which is nice only why didn't she bring it along on Saturday and didn't we say no presents this year? Do I have to recipocrate now? I barely have time left!

Hi all,
New to the christmas thread but I have a gifting conundrum.

I'm going to my boss's house for Christmas this year, as my visa situation prevents me from spending the holiday with my family. In addition to the hosting gift (which I've got covered), I wanted to get something for his kids. He says they both really like arts and crafts-type stuff. This is for an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. Anyone have any ideas on something inexpensive that the kids will enjoy?
