New to the christmas thread but I have a gifting conundrum.
I'm going to my boss's house for Christmas this year, as my visa situation prevents me from spending the holiday with my family. In addition to the hosting gift (which I've got covered), I wanted to get something for his kids. He says they both really like arts and crafts-type stuff. This is for an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. Anyone have any ideas on something inexpensive that the kids will enjoy?
Well my experience may be a bit outdated but here are a few suggestions -- Always welcome are good quality coloured pens/pencils/paints/crayons (I remember b*ying 'smell' crayons which smelled like fruits, etc in the USA which were a great hit back here and I imagine they exist over here now). Kids can never have enough pens, etc. if they are an artistic lot. Another big hit was FIMO which is a moulding kit and was always considered a lot more grown up than playdoh. Stickers are always welcome and come in a vast array of themes so if you know they love cats/dogs/fairies you could put a few sheets of them in too.
Please feel free to ignore all of the above, caitlin but hope you find a good solution and have a very Happy Christmas with the boss and family.

For the little girl of 8 why not get her a "make your own jewellery" kit so she can have fun making necklaces and bracelets with the beads etc that these packs have in them. My granddaughters used to love doing this and the kits are not expensive. What about a jigsaw for the little boy. They are not expensive and you can get some really nice cartoon ones.

No wonder I never made it to the Finals of BGT X Find a Chorister Finals

.
You are fine, it is just a different version!
From wikipedia:
The 1780 version has "four colly birds" -- "colly" being a regional English expression for "black".[18] This wording must have been opaque to many even in the nineteenth century: "canary birds", "colour'd birds", "curley birds", and "corley birds" are found in its place. Frederic Austin's 1909 version, which introduced the now-standard melody, also altered the fourth day's gift to
four calling birds, and this variant has become the most popular.
So go for it, Sunny Saver! I'd vote for you!

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! Now that I'll be at Bluewater on Sunday for the Railway Man screening I'll have a look around and see what I can find!

Thank you for reminding me that I must use my JL December free drink + cake voucher soon. Much longer and the Xmas rail engineering work will mean that I can't get to a branch and to waste the voucher would be contrary to the ethos of FMUK!
