Accrington Pals Fairfield Halls 5th November
A group of young men from the small town of Accrington decide to volunteer as soldiers on the eve of the First World War. As their story unfolds, the terrible reality of the war in France becomes clear. For the women they have left at home, their lives are changed forever. The lives of ordinary people are caught up in the making of history.
Peter Whelan’s epic play is both touching and humorous, a must-see for any student of the First World War.

DESH at The Lowry - SFF - Thursday 13th November 2014
http://www.showfilmfirst.com/pin/563115
13/11/14 8pm
DESH at The Lowry
Official site
One man tries to find his balance in an unstable world in this Olivier award-winning performance by celebrated choreographer and performer Akram Khan.
His most personal work to date, DESH - meaning ‘homeland’ in Bengali - sees Khan team up with Oscar-winning visual artist Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).Moving between Britain and Bangladesh, Khan weaves threads of memory, experience and myth into a surreal world of surprising connection.
At once intimate and epic, Desh celebrates the resilience of the human spirit in the rhythms of labour, in dream and story, and in transformation and survival.
Akram Khan is one of the most exciting choreographers working in the UK today – using his early training in classic Indian Kathak and combining it with contemporary dance, he creates original, daring and inspiring performances. The company’s international reputation has grown culminating in Khan being invited to create and perform within the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony
