I never used to give in to bullies but due to various personal reasons and various political irritations within the party I thought it was best not to fight it, I was basically told to leave or I'd be pushed as they thought I would be a liability due to my depression. My options were to leave quietly or fight it and proclaim myself publicly anti-lib dem and explain that I have depression and all that entails to reporters, didn't have time for that and felt it may hurt people I didn't want to lose their seats rather than having a positive effect to my campaign should I try standing as an independent and for the image of people suffering from mental illness such as depression.
The person they brought in to replace me as a candidate came last in my ward, I had a large majority and the other councillor who stood again came second after another previous councillor in our ward (Labour). The people who forced me to stand down also lost their seats, and it might be slightly immature but I find this all vaguely ratifying.
I am, however, quite disappointed by the AV vote, money and spin managing to win out over logic and facts once again within our political system.
What do you think of AV? Will you vote?

Sorry to be pedantic, I didn't follow the news today, but was it 70% of (all) the British people orfunthing29 wrote:The turnout in London only was 35% which is quite low but we had no local elections.
Some London constituencies even voted in favour of AV (Camden, Islington, Haringey) but nearly 70% of the British population voted NO to AV.
Well, that's that then. The NO votes was expected to defeat the YES campaign anyway.
70% of those British people who went to vote (if that was 35-40% than that would be 70% of 35-40%)?

Re: What do you think of AV? Will you vote?
I've started a little campaign for an independent North London, at least in terms of our voting system: http://www.facebook.com/pages/North-Lon ... 9159144316 Can't deny YES was defeated nationally, but why not let those of us who voted for it have AV as our democratic right? At the very least we can provide a testing ground for its potential success. Anyway, I'm very proud of my home, Hackney, for being the highest YES vote in the country. Common sense, not bandwagon jumpers.
