I really wanted Murray to win this year & his speech has just brought me to tears.
I think despite what people say about his lack of expression, he clearly has a lot of emotion about what he does.
Well done Murray, better luck next year!

Rogers nice but he does have his hissies sometimes. Yes, it would have been great for 'Coldplay lad' to win it but I guess the Fed Ex still has a year or two left in the tank.

I should really try and make some money from Federer as a lookalike, with shades and tall shoes, people say I look exactly like him and I always seem to turn a few heads during this time in late June when I'm out and about in Surrey (not for my looks, I am sure mwhuaaha).
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I'm sort of with Beate on this one... although for me, if it's not Arsenal, I'm not supporting you o/...

I'm never bothered which individual wins, unless he/she shares they're prize with me o/.

Well done Federer... there's always next season, I mean year, Murray.

I've got to say I wanted Federer to win. I would have been happy for Murray (and the nation) if he had won and agree it would have been a great year for it, given the attention we're getting, but I have always been a Federer fan, so would be weird to suddenly root for someone I haven't really cared for (could he and his mother PLEASE smile!!! His mum looks terrifying!). Plus I have an extra soft spot for all things Swiss...

Great match regardless - at first could have gone either way. Lendl looks like he will be shaping Murray into a great player. He managed to get to the finals this year and I doubt it'll be the last time! He's only young!

Excellent final! Murray gave it everything, though I felt he was getting way too few first services in. Sorry Murray didnt win for Scotland, for Britain, his crying speech was a bit of a shock, bloody hell, he might win a few doubting hearts with that one but I rather he go with the Tom Hanks guide to there's no crying in baseball :) Now he should continue with his steely determination, show no emotion (none of that crying stuff!), to hell with the character criticisms as he has always done before and keep ploughing away to the top and win the next grand slam tournament as that's the kind of mentality that seems to work for him to get this far. Its amazing though how when fans get behind you in force, his game raises that little bit more...just wasnt enough to take the great champion on the other side of the net.

But Federer showed what a great champion he is made of, brilliant stuff, and in a fuelled Murray fans environment. I agree with Ejwrank's mentioning of his slight lack of modesty, his self-appraisal, he did that again in his presentation speech but for me that's perfectly fine, he wants us to know it was his own hard work that got him to the top and not other people weaknesses. 7 times Wimbeldon champion, wow. I dont mind a champion's arrogance, they deserve a little bit of that. Mohammed Ali strived on it to be a champion. Every champ has their own way of mentally staying at the top, arrogance for on champ, modesty for another.

Kinda glad my cricket match was cancelled today!

So the great Williams sisters championing the singles and doubles once again, a wild card Briton winning doubles, a Scotsman getting into the singles final, a new young British future star in Heather Watson emerges and champion joining ranks with old champions of champions. Pretty damn eventful wimbledon tournament in my book :)

Well, Swiss chocolate is the best! Mmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm not sure I agree that Federer lacks modesty. I think he's just frank and asseses his performance. If he were too modest people would say he's glory seeking. I prefer his "this is how I think I played" assessment. He's always kind to whomever he has just defeated, saying that they definitely have it in them to go further, to do better, but that he just played better this time. And as MrG says, he is 7 times Wimbledon champion! For him to be too modest would just make him look like an idiot / unappreciative of what he has achieved!

I was also surprised about Murray's tears. He's managed to pull them back thus far. I wish he'd taken the moments he had before they gave him his plate thing when he was behind everyone to shed some tears into his towel and get the worst of it over.

Well done, Andy!

That was impressive. And the emotion that you showed was a sea-change. Was actually proud of you, despite my earlier feeling. Good effort, today. Better luck next time. My opinion might be showing signs of thawing.

The boy dun good.

It's a shame Murray did not win but he did well to get as far as he did.
