Re: Water For Elephants
I saw a friend yesterday and her 8 year old and 11 year old want to go and see it. They'd been advised not to take the children due to the animal cruelty. I told her I thought that was ridiculous based on what I'd seen in other films that were a 12a (Hanna for one alarming example). Plus the animal cruelty isn't a huge part of the film and is treated in the correct way - as in the message is "this is wrong". It's not glorifying violence in any way and although it's not that nice.. .it's hardly as scary as some of the bits in harry potter (which i watched with them last night).
Am going to see this again in the week hopefully :)

Re: Water For Elephants
Although my 12 year old was upset by the animal cruelty part she absolutely adored this film because it was real and authentic. I agree with Aruif that it is not glorifying violence, Harry Potter is scarieraruif wrote:I saw a friend yesterday and her 8 year old and 11 year old want to go and see it. Re: Water For Elephants
I have been reading raving reviews saying the movie is Oscar worthy. After seeing the first Twilight movie I never thought that Pattinson would be in a film deemed Oscar worthy. Having said that, I haven't seen it yet but it definitely made me curious to check it out now!

I wouldn't go anywhere near as far as to say that it's an Oscar worthy film, I did like it but if anyone (anything?) deserves an Oscar for that film it would be the elephant.

hahahahahahahahaha!
I've seen better performances in my kid's nativity play than either of the leads in this farce!

I think this is one of his best films yet. I cried my eyes out most the way through it. It's a beautiful film and definately worth seeing! :)

Re: Water For Elephants
I've not read any oscar worthy reviews but if there were a nom, it would be Christof Waltz, excellent as always. HIm and the Elephant made the film worth watching for me.

Re: Water For Elephants
I finally got around to see it (thanks Vue voucher!), and I am quite surprised... I liked this a lot!
I think I am getting weak and all girly, there might be something wrong with me
Loved Christopher Waltz but also liked Pattinson (even found him cute and wished I was Marlena at times... definitely something wrong there!)
A very surprising 9/10 for me
