I did ask months (if not years?) ago where a non-film-related comp (e.g. for holidays) should go, and I think the answer at the time was "nowhere". Maybe that situation has changed now and there'd be greater demand for comps of other types? I'm certainly interested in winning gadgets, in particular a smartphone or tablet, so am grateful for the post about the mobile 'phone comp and would welcome more of these, wherever we eventually agree they belong.

Does anyone have any info on how much data they use a month then please?
It's unlikely I'm going to win a phone so I'm looking at other options so would be good to know whether 500MB is enough for example.

I use 1 GB.

500 MB is not bad as long as you wifi and don't download too much.

I think I am capped at 500MB through T mobile. But I never go over that. Mainly cos I use WIFI when I can. Also I set my phone so it doesn't go online unless I want it to. A lot of people are caught out by this and don't realise their phones are set to online even when they don't need or want to.

I can check facebook and other pages quite comfortable most of the day every day and not go over. And if I wanted to, I probably couldn't as my phone has the worst battery power if it is constantly on use. If you wish to download big chucks of data use wifi, eat someone's data. You can set your phone to use your home broadband. I am lucky cos I can use BTFON too. When you are out and about go near WIFI hotspots.

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

thanks, yeah I was hoping to find wifi.
I just had a quick look at tesco mobile and they've got an offer for £7.50 a month for a free LG Optimus Me P350 with 500MB (I'm not bothered about calls and texts as I hardly use it and have always been on PAYG)
http://shop.tescomobile.com/mobile-phon ... us+me+p350
I looked up a review of the phone and it's not the best but then considering I've got a 7 or 8 year old ancient phone it'll be a massive step up for me so I mightn't notice it's failings.
I'll keep looking for now though.

I've been told using wifi on the go (secured wifi at home/work with a password being an exception) is unsafe as technically everyone has access to your personal (online) details on things you check on your phone and could more easily hack into your email account etc.

so do some smart phones require smaller sized sim cards? and how do I check which size sim card a phone needs before b*ying it and how do I get a smaller sim card? do the phone companies just provide them if you ask?
