Premiered to celebrate the reconciliation of George I and his estranged son, the Prince of Wales, Radamisto is a tale of feuding royal families, torn apart by illicit and irrational passions.

Conducted by leading Handelian Laurence Cummings and starring exciting young countertenor Lawrence Zazzo, this lavish and exotic new staging is directed by the multi-award-winning David Alden, whose Ariodante has long been admired as a jewel in ENO's Handelian crown.

From pop star to opera star, he shot to fame through Pop Idol, had five Top 10 singles including the No. 1 Colourblind, a platinum album and a gold album. He's starred on the West End stage in Chicago, Guys 'n' Dolls and Gone with the Wind and he recently won TV's Pop Star to Opera Star going on to play a lead role in Carmen at the O2.



Following in the footsteps of the great crooners such as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and Andy Williams, Darius takes on his most challenging role yet. Crooning is a style that has its roots in the Bel Canto of Italian opera, but with the emphasis on subtle vocal nuances and phrasing found in jazz, and Darius could be made for the part.

Annie Lennox, Melanie C, Lauren Pritchard and Alice Russell are among a host of stars who will perform at a special concert presented by the HIV charity ‘Body & Soul’ in memory of the late Dame Anita Roddick.
‘Voicestorm’ will take place on Wednesday 20 October 2010 at the Roundhouse. The event, an intimate evening of live music and inspirational presenters, will bring together exceptional female artists who are lending their support to this important organisation and campaign. Further surprise celebrity guests are anticipated to join the night.

Emma Colyer, Director of Body & Soul said: ‘Anita Roddick became a Patron of Body & Soul 14 years ago, and was one of the few in the UK who spoke out for people living with or affected by HIV. This event, which is held close to Anita’s birthday, is a fitting tribute to the legacy Anita left behind. It is also a chance to celebrate what she stood for as an activist and to highlight the fact that HIV is still a major issue affecting the lives of many children, teenagers and families here in the UK.’
