:P only applies if you have pa*d NI in the past, so basically you are claiming back money you have contributed in the past when you are working! It is not much, but it is better than nothing while you are job hunting. For students, you should be able to claim other benefits. Did you check out student grants etc? You probably know about this website:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAn ... /DG_194804
Look particularly at the section Living Cost Grants - you don't have to p*y these back. Also check out Scholarships, bursaries and awards and Extra Financial Help, and Special Support Grants too. You do not have to p*y any of these back. You have enough to think about with studies, you should not have to have money worries too. Hope this helps! :cross:

Congratulations on your bursary...I assume that was supposed to last a while. How did you manage a USA trip or is that too personal? Hope you get something in the summer to help you out next year. We all know it isn't easy. I had a graduate daughter who ended up doing lots of free internships as they offer these now they know they don't have to p*y anyone. It's great for your CV but not so great for your bank balance.

Well done! You need to learn to budget so it lasts longer than! :P Granted it is not easy when there is so much to spend on! Hope you can find something to supplement you until next year.

How did you manage a USA trip or is that too personal?
I budgeted all my maintenance grants so that they lasted me my entire term, whilst my dad pa*d me £160 in child maintenance money(my mom figured he might as well give it straight to me as my mom technically isnt p*ying for me while im in uni) and £100 of that went onto the holiday until January when we finished p*ying it off.
Meaning I pa*d about £400 to the initial cost of the holiday, my bf p*ying the rest since hes working(hes such a star!)
Then after much budgeting and the arrival of my bursary in Feb, I had £1000 leftover as what I like to call "fun money" (pays for clubs, cinema, theme parks, concerts and the like)
So I thought since I hadnt put too much towards the cost I could afford to put it up for the holiday spending money :)

My last loan came through on Wednesday last week, so I can make that last, but not for the whole summer, and since Ill be in a proper house this year and not cheap uni accomodation, any extra money I can get for rent would help alot. I think its £275 a month plus any bills we have, which well be splitting between 4 of us, so it shouldn't be TOO much :/

But now wants to go to Florida agin next year! So ill definitely need a part time job for that too!

I wouldn't underestimate the cost of bills, even if its between 4 people. You would be surpirsed if you've never run accommadation before just how much it turns out to be. 8O

This may sound strange but I like receiving rejection letters obviously not as much as say an interview letter ha ha. But it just means that an employer has used two minutes out of their busy lives to send me a generic email / letter. It makes you think that they have actually read your cv / application form (well I hope so anyway)

Gosh, you had "fun money" rawr_xoxo! 8O Never had that in my days. We just had enough for every day living, rent, utility bills, laundry, food, books for studying, bus fares etc. What luxury! I never had a holiday till I went to work and saved up

I've not had a holiday since 2003. There's so much that needs p*ying for when you live alone. I don't even have a car or a mortgage.
