I too loved it 9/10 from me. Very different but lovely and the audience were so quiet. For some reason I thought that I was about to nod off a couple of times no idea why as I was enjoying the film and I'm not tired

yes but we had trailers 6:20 to 6:30pm so it didn't affect the normal start time, just something to watch while waiting. I didn't mean to imply it had affected the time I got out.

I loved, it. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but give it a chance. its refreshingly different, enchanting, exciting. you could hear a pin drop at Westfield. Apart from the clown who came in an hour after it started, and sat behind me with rustling paper bags  At least he had the grace not to try and eat the contents. I was totally wrapt up and even had a bit of a tear in my eye 10/10

Forgot to say, people clapped when it finished o/

Likewise Diane. I was extremely tired but, maybe because its something we are not used to, silent movies?

Back from Braehead and a pretty full Guardian reader audiences. If it was your typical SFF audience I reckon there would had been some walk outs. OH hated it so much it is her worst film of the year. I thought it was so so. I guess it is cos I find it hard to focus fully for the length of the film even though it was humorous at times or sad. My first silent french film....well till right at the end.

I have to say that I found it very good and interesting experiment. I was at Braehead and like most other postings the cinema was very quiet. Yinster & I had a bet about how many people would leave once they discovered it was B&W and silent. In fact, none left. The audience seemed to react well to the film with a few laughs. I do think that people who have already watched old B&W silent films (Chaplin, LLoyd, etc) would find it easiest to relate to The Artist. I enjoyed the film but have to say that I would not want to see this experiment used again. Yes, it was good but it should remain as a "one off".
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Films already booked for:

Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas
