Re: The Crimson Wing
They showed this in the huge screen 2 at Cineworld in Edinburgh which seats about 300. It was fine for the approx 50 that showed up.
Quite a lot of kids there and they all behaved and were quiet which surprised me as I'm afriad to say I was bored. It was about 15 minutes too long.
It was beautifully filmed etc etc but it lacked substance and depth that you would have got from the natural History unit of the BBC. the falmingoes were not cute like the penguins either so I'm not quite sure what the traget audience is for this?
Maybe Disney should stick to what they do best?
It was perfectly acceptable and nice to see on a big screen but all in all, 5/10 from me for going on too long and not being entertaining enough with ancilliary facts.

Share your thoughts on this filmThis film shows us how every year flamingos from all over return to the Natron Lake in Tanzania to mate and rear chicks. The landscape is stunning and the story very interesting, with the added cutesy factor of the flamingo chicks. I had never seen flamingos land or take off just like planes before, using their legs to slow down or speed up, or do a mating choreography worthy of any ballet dancer. It is however not quite as thrilling or funny as the March of the Penguins was, and the narration is sometimes over the top poetic, with music swelling and another gorgeous landscape shot thrown in for good measure. 7.5/10

OH and I loved this beautifully photographed film. I felt I was there, I felt pain for the young flamingos with the salt encrusted legs. The life and death struggle. I thought that the commentary was a bit OTT at times, that apart 8/10 from me.
About 60 people in the screening at Cineworld Birmingham including several children who seemed to enjoy the film.
Sadly I did not meet any Birmingham members of this forum, maybe they were all at the Blues v Villa game?

I quite enjoyed this one....did go on a tadf too long for my liking!
Also cost me a KFC for the children who had to endure over an hour of boredom! I did think my little one was going to enjoy it at the beginning ....when they mentioned Primeval magma! He was impressed by that one...this was soon replaced by "how long is this on for" and "Is it nearly over yet?"
Also noisey people in the corner....My six year old made less noise than them! If they didnt enjoy it they could have easily left!

Fantastic cinematography - very beautiful scenery and some wonderful shots. The last 15 minutes should have been culled and seemed a bit unnecessary. Parents should think twice about taking kids who may be sensitive to the death of animals which is charateristic of most nature films.

Re: The Crimson Wing
Went with my daughter - 13 years - to this one.
We both agreed that the photography was amazing - a particular interest to my daughter - and overall generally enjoyed this but it was too long and did not have the impact that some nature pictures have.
a 7.5/10 from us.

The photography was fantastic, much better (or maybe more artistic) than the BBC. But as others have said, the script wasn't as good. I did find it very interesting, and I took two nine-year olds, who also enjoyed it.

Re: The Crimson Wing
The small audience was reduced by around 7 who walked out about 30 minutes in.
Fabulous cinematography and I think some scenes could have been shot in 3D which would have added to the scenes of the birds flying and when we see them walking ensemble. I have to admit I was shocked at th way the storks played with the chicks instead of killing them or eating thme. Leaving the poor things to die slowly is something I thought only mankind was evil to do.
Ms Frostrups voice is boring at the best of times but I felt she did nothing for this film and I nodded off shortly before the end. I totally agree that the BBC do this kind of thing so much better.

Re: The Crimson Wing
Saw this at Cineworld Nottingham – wouldn’t have expected this to be shown in a cinema, but all in all I still enjoyed it. My sister didn’t think the same as she fell asleep.
