That is an exaggerated account. "We see blood and brains fly", you don't, they whizz-cut to another scene on impact.jcolombi wrote:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1899353/parentalguidevalda wrote:I don't think I'll be able to cope with it sadly. I did wonder where you had gone tonight as I went to Braehead to see "Elfie Hopkins". You didn't miss much there, though I do think it was better than The Raid sounds!cheeksdevil wrote:I love action movies i hated this!! i will be brief, can i swear?? please god someone tell me i am allowed to swear! okay this is my eloquently put together review after serious in depth thought so brace yourself's

Re: The Raid
Well that was the fastest action film I've ever seen. There was at least a story to it,so it was'nt just crack bang wallop.Thought the acting was good but bet lots of the shots were taken over and over again.Came out of the cinema a bit gobsmacked but did enjoy it
Re: The Raid
1.Be aware of Asian people, all of them know martial arts very well!
2.Remember, never ever attack them with any neon lamp! If it happens somehow you'll stuck neon (even half of it) in they throat they will suck the energy out of it and become even more powerful and violent:-)

Re: The Raid
Saw this in a busy Fountain Park.
Well it had interesting sound effects. Sub titles were good, could read them
How may ways can you skin a cat.? i dont know. Nnot computer generated all action.
Two folks walked out
More stunned silence form the rest of us when we came out.
Some plots twists.
Great experience. All in all a massive 2/10 from us and in a different class to Die Hard I would say!!

Re: The Raid
Well if thinking of it just as straight up action movie it was quite good, fighting scenes were definitely impressive, and i would say one of the best in recent years (well we haven't seen much lately anyway).
Even though story line was a bit dumb it was an enjoyable experience overall.
ps not really comparable to hollywood blockbusters but i guess it wasn't trying to be one.

Re: The Raid
strong steriotype all asian people must know martial arts 6.5/10 was hard to follow at time action goign that fast
Re: The Raid
Interesting that the screening was promoted by the games website IGN because this is basically Double Dragon The Movie.
Thinly sketched hero, wave upon wave of baddies, actually levels for the hero to navigate and the big boss waiting the end.
In fairness it's well made, gritty and the fight scenes are certainly tough, but they are also dull at times despite the frenzied action and lively camerawork - they are so choreographed and overlong that they almost become comical. Anyone remember the extended fight sketch from The Fast Show?
The set up is intriguing, maybe the Hollywood remake will make a better job of it. As for this, it's certainly not the "Best action movie in years" as the posters claim and is a million miles away from that other man against the odds in a skyscraper movie, Die Hard.
If it's not your cup of tea give it a miss, if it sounds like your thing maybe just switch on your Xbox and play a bit of Mortal Kombat or something for a similar experience.

Re: The Raid
At the last fight scene, someone in glasgow jokely said "I bet theres another yin waiting outside".
I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed it more about half way through. Not really my cup of tea but has got me interested in that style of movie.
