little pre-publicity because it was due to be released some weeks ago, but was pulled from the schedule because of the US school shooting.

not much appetite for this kinda comic book gun violence right now...therefore released without too much fanfare.

Yes, Taken is dire but also immensely popular apparently.

I was looking forward to Gangster Squad and it didn't disappoint. Once you brace yourself for the violence, you are in for a good ride. Great performances and very sleek visually.

Quite "enjoyed" this tonight - not really my genre but still thought it was good. 7/10

not quite actually. It was supposed to have a september release; it was advertise on TV/net at the time of the Aurora shooting. The trailer was containing a scene where people got shot in the cinema.
They immediately pulled out the trailer and re-shot said scene, hence the push back in January...

My first preview :) Enjoyed it. Just what I was expecting. I felt a couple of the emotional scenes were a bit forced and that as the audience we were expected to have a great interest in the relationship just because its linked to one of the squad members, without a deep enough background into the relationship. On the whole a solid movie and I only checked my watch once which is a good sign.

A good start of 2013. Bloody violent it is. Had to cover my eyes a couple of times.

Saw this tonight at O2 Cineworld and it was packed tonight.

The acting was great, the look of the film was amazing, the action scenes even better but the dialogue was cliched, leaden and predictable. The action scenes were tense and drew you into the film but when the action stopped so did the film and the film felt leaden during these moments. It felt like it was stop starting all the time. So instead of building tension all the way to the grand finale it felt rather pedestrian.

For some reason the dramatic scenes failed too and instead of feeling loss it just felt..oh well that's life.

The scene in Chinatown was an addition to the film and was filmed specifically. As historically the shoot out occurred in a cinema and after the shooting in a cinema in the states last year during a screening of "The Dark Night Rises" they could not have this. So it had to be re-shot.

Don't get me wrong I did enjoy it but it could have been better.

Saw this at a full Paisley showcase. Met moggers + OH but didn't manage to see after to get opinion (though I've now read it!).
Unfortunately my friend became unwell part way in to film (nothing to do with first scene with cars! ). Her OH stayed for about 20 mins before going to see how she was feeling . . . didn't come back though very disappointed! :(
I think the opening scene set the tone for the rest of the film . . . I certainly don't understand why film was not an 18 from that scene alone! 8O There were more bullets shot in this film than in most wars :giggle:
I was very impressed that the Christmas tree remained in the house after it was bombarded with shots. They managed to miss the window/blinds!
Did I enjoy? . . . maybe not the right word, but I was certainly glued to the screen and willed for the goodies to win! It did feel as though it could have been a Western film of old with men with black hats being baddies and white hats for goodies.
A good start to 2013!
