Re: Ted
I'm not a fan of family guy but I did b*y the Family Guy's Star Wars specials which were pretty funny. But Family Guy, South Park and other loud crude adult animated comedies are not really my cup of tea, funny though they are, I can only watch so much, ie 5mins of it before I get too saturated with it. If TED is this sort of comedy, I might be dreading its length!

Re: Ted
Seems unlikely that Seth MacFarlane will be attending the Q&A tomorrow night if his tweet just now is correct

Re: Ted
Please note that due to circumstances outside of our control, Mr Seth McFarlane is unable attend the screening tonight.
The screening will still go ahead as planned, with James King introducing the film.
Universal Pictures and SFF apologies for this situation.
*apologies*?

Re: Ted
OH liked it but I thought this was distinctly meh and unfunny. I am sorry but I fail to see how racist, sexist or homophobic jokes can ever be funny, and there was nothing but. It's sad because there is a decent story about friendship in there somewhere, waiting to get out, but it was just buried in that misguided attempt at throwing offensive lines out there every 2 seconds. I had the best chuckle of the evening when we all got a Flash Gordon DVD on the way out, and the best part was our chatter with FMUKers dotted all over the place. Saw, in no particular order, ejwrank, David, funthing29, a_person, valda, prettyxcool, MariaLionza, milkchocmonkey, cliveas, ZoeBanfield and TheOnes, him looking like a deer caught in headlights, trying to save 6 seats all on his own.
Yes, Mark Wahlberg is this adorable man-child who can't part with his "Thunderbuddy" (no, that isn't as gross at it sounds), and Mila Kunis was cute and thankfully allowed to play a nice girlfriend - although her seeing the light at the end about Ted's importance in her man's life seemed to be a male fantasy - but let's face it, the whole story is a male fantasy. There isn't much for females to like or admire and the females in the story aren't given much opportunity to shine either.
Now go ahead y'all and say you loved it and see how I care.

Re: Ted
You know what, i really loved this movie. No i'm not saying that just to spark horns with you, Beate. I'm a big fan of offensive humour, not because i'm evil but i just don't see how people can get hurt because of something thats obviously not meant to harm. It is also used as a way to laugh at the character, that the character doesn't know what he's talking about and marks out what kind of person he is and thats where the humour comes from. And to be honest, either everything is ok to laugh about, or nothing is. I don't know, i guess with a lifetime of abuse hurled at me i guess i just gained a thicker skin and an ability to laugh off that sort of thing with ease?Beate wrote:OH liked it but I thought this was distinctly meh and unfunny. I'm a big fan of Family Guy and American Dad (flaws and all) so i was looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint. Not only did it have alot of humour but it also had alot of heart, it had threat, story, character growth and a real desire to learn and trying to carve out a life where they can all live. All of this got balanced tremendously and got woven into a pretty awesome film that you easily b*y into and invest (though without the crying that was promised at the start. Yeah it was emotional but you just know how its going to end and can see it coming a mile off. But even when it comes it still manages to pull an unexpected laugh [spoiler]"You put some stuffing in the wrong place so i'm kinda f**ked up
Overall, one of the funniest movies i've seen this year that was born from a great story and tremendous character growth (not so much development, as Lori kinda needed a bit more meat other than defining herself by relationships, but the way she grew how learnt about boundaries and understanding just felt natural and nothing about it seemed forced to me. However, as Beate kindly demonstrated, it is clearly not everyones cup of tea and not for the easily offended
My final score
8.5/10
I was up to the challenge of saving the seats, but the lights infront of my deer face was just that i was kinda afraid of people ganging up on me and taking the seats by force. Paranoia sunk in and my kung fu training replayed in my head as a precaution. I was running on adrenaline man! But it was great to see alot of the ol' gang at the screening, even if vocal information was never tradedI had the best chuckle of the evening when we all got a Flash Gordon DVD on the way out, and the best part was our chatter with FMUKers dotted all over the place.
