Lol...yes if you are watching all 3 Clooney films at the festival! I think he must have a hotel near Leicester Square

By the time I woke up the only thing available I intended to check out that had seats not neck hurting was Life During Wartime, sigh, gonna be a long wait of hype for Up In The Air, and I fear it might overdo itself with reviews like Juno.
No real point in being a BFI member. Never again.

Is Up in the Air hyped up already? I've read no reviews about it yet...but surprisingly they have huge posters of the film at Piccadilly Circus just to advertise it's screening at the festival. I don't even know when the film is on general release..?

It was kind of funny, I got priority offers from everywhere, Greenwich Picturehouse emailed me (but I am not a member), and Vue cinemas emailed me as well. I never took any notice as I don't get the tickets myself.

I got an invite from Vue as well... I am guessing tickets sales might be slow.. and they are pushing the marketing this year

George Clooney is supposed to be attending at least 2 of his 3 films at the festival which I'm guessing will be Fantastic Mr Fox & The Men Who Stare At Goats (the 2 closest together in terms of dates). I used to go to the opening or closing night of the festival until last year when I gave up trying to get tickets. It seemed too expensive for listening to a live feed in the cinema of a string of celebrity (and not so celebrity) guests answering the inane questions of a very excited interviewer. However, walking along the red carpet into the cinema on the "star" side of the crowd barriers was nice!

I think i was one of the lucky ones with my postal priority booking. The guy at the BFI told me that many entries didnt make it in on time because of the postal strike. I thankfully got:

Mr. Fox
Bright Star
Paper Heart
The Road
Surprise Film
The Doors Film

I didnt even think that codes may come for these films after...but hey i have to p*y once in a while lol. Quite excited now... :) Hope to see some FMuk-people there :)

Yep it's very expensive, but at least the LFF opening and closing gala, the actors/director tend to say more than if it was just a normal premiere.

The Times is publishing a guide for the LFF tomorrow and there will be competitions to win tickets for films at the LFF as well:

The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival opens on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.

But why wait?

You can get your cinematic juices flowing early by picking up your free 64-page guide to this year's festival - only in The Times on Saturday.

The comprehensive handbook covers everything you need to know about what's on throughout the 16-day film fest, including full film listings, exclusive interviews and the lowdown on the movies any self-respecting buff simply can't afford to miss.

Win tickets to one of this year's gala films
Fantastic Mr. Fox (a world premiere); Up in the Air; An Education; and The Boys Are Back. Just some of this year's gala screenings - and you could be at one of them. Pick up the guide tomorrow to find out how.

Now, get the popcorn ready, and settle down with The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival Guide - free in The Times tomorrow.

The first three you mentioned are all coming out/have come out as free screenings! I think there will be another code flying around again for Paperheart.

Hey superhero, which films did you get in the end (other than FMF)?
