Encouraging to read so many positive reviews here, as I read a 2-star review in one paper yesterday (think it was The Times) and was surprised and disappointed.

I don't think it's a film for everyone. There's going to be people that find it a load of pretentious psycho-gobbledegook, but I personally loved it. I'm actually surprised that the praise for it here is so universal. I'd expected it to be a little more divisive. Proof that the FMUK crowd has good taste I suppose!

A really poor movie. The Beach was better!

An Inception-esque mind melting assault that stalls midway and kicks its heels to the climax. No cohesion between the actors who all seemed to be on different levels. McAvoy plays at least half of the film believing it is a comedy. Dawson, the strongest performance gives the script the seriousness Boyle was hoping to achieve but inevitably the film failed to produce. Cassel played his role as Franck the criminal with an air of arrogance, almost seeming that he wanted to be "Tranced" and forget he agreed to be in this movie.

Too many loopholes and no real substance. Boyle creates a tidal wave of false endings but none of these possible outcomes are desirable, just plain confusing.

I came away from Braehead amongst a group of Trance supporters, but I was strangely disappointed. Wish I could have worked out the timeline more accurately by the end. And I know it's a sign of age, but it's remarkable what a 15 film can get away with these days...!

Believe me, an 18 certificate film is far stronger. If people are concerned about the content of any film, BBFC Insight explains why each film has been given that particular certificate in detail.

The "explanation" was very cleverly done in my opinion

I figured out the plot straight away and thought that it would have been a darker ending! Thought yes it had some good acting James McAvoy bum was better actor than the henchmen!

As I said, it's a sign of age - you may or may not remember from days of yore that Gremlins was a 15!

Believe me, I am of an age to remember when X rated films existed let alone 15 certificates. :p

As in life, film certification moves on.

I don't think Gremlins had the kind of gore that was in that film last night (although it's a very long time since I've seen Gremlins), they give Trance a 15 yet Weekend got rated 18 for the 'drug taking' supposedly. They always seem to give blood, gore and violence an easier pass.

Gremlins is surprisingly gory but it is fantasy gore. Maybe, they thought it would give young ones nightmares?
