Sat behind Karenig123 and beside debbie1 + O in 100% full Glasgow.
As some others have said Mama was better "not seen" in full. I did find the film had more horror than I expected though much was only hinted at in the first half which probably had a better effect. I definitely did not like the ending . . . maybe I wanted a "they all lived happily ever after" ending so was surprised.
I thought the 2 girls were very good though I do hope they were not harmed psychologically as a result of making Mama!!!!!!

What a load of rubbish. As the credits came up someone in the cinema said loudly "well that was a crap ending" and I totally agree. It was basically a horror and I HATE horrors haven't watched one in about 20 years because of the stupid scenes like... people going to secluded cabins on there own at night, and massive institute that only seems to have one doctor and one receptionist (who seems to be the only person who noticed him missing) and so on and so on.
It felt as if the writer wrote half the script had a break came back to it and forgot what they had written and scribbled down the second part half cut. The film didn't feel concluded like there is a second film in the pipeline.
If the aim of the film was to make the audience jump then it would be a 9/10 but for me its a...
2/10

I'm not a fan of the horror/supernatural genre, so this was kinda decent - well, up until the end which was just plain stupid.
There were a good few shocks, and judging by the reaction of most in the cinema it had the desired effect. A couple of the scares caught me off guard, and a few were so blatantly obvious.
When the doc's flashlight died & he started using the camera flash... surely everyone saw that coming?
As for the movie experience at the O2.
- I was sitting next to a guy who clearly had the intention of scaring the crap out of his girlfriend, although the way his knee trembled through the whole film, I think it's him that needed a hug from her.
- Why do people turn up 5 minutes before the film starts & honestly expect to get pairs (or more) of seats near the back?
- At the last 2 screenings (this & Die Hard) at the O2, the film hasn't used the full width of the screen. Anyone know why?
Back to the film, a decent but unspectacular 6/10

I agree with a lot of the reviews. I was really enjoying the film and thought it was quite creepy watching the girls acting and their odd movements. The ending was not what i expected and wish they had kept it a lot darker. Cinema was probably 99% full in Showcase Cardiff, we got there at 6.30 and the cue was already right across the cinema. I'm not really sure what time people started queueing but it must've been very early :)

it's a genre film
"why would the doctor go check the cabin alone AND at night???"
that's what happens in this genre.
roll with it.
I did 'roll with it', i.e. didn't walk out. I just like my films a little more intelligent. There are enough silly 'genre films' already, no need to add to the list. I was expecting more, that's all.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure the end was a bit crap, and maybe one too many people end up wandering around the woods at night, but it was a solidly put together horror film with some neat nods to the greats. Also, the monster itself was magnificently creepy, until you get to see it anyway.

i was a little disappointed that noone used a 'yo mama' joke in the film. Not when Mama actually was in the room, that would be pretty foolish, of course.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

saw this one at Wimbledon - pretty busy cinema but there were some seats still available.
Enjoyed the first third of it and thought the premise was interesting enough and the girls' acting was good........by the middle chunk, I was unsure where the film might be straying and it started to niggle me how disjointed the scenes seemed to become, the last third descended into dodgy cgi (would have preferred NOT to have seen MAMA) and odd plot shifts, a few times, found it quite laughable (and not necessarily in a good way)
Felt like they started with a good idea but were unsure where to take it
A few good jumps and scares, but ultimately, quite disappointing for me

Both Mama and Die Hard were filmed in 1:85.1 ratio widescreen (roughly the same ratio as a widescreen tv) and not 2:35.1 CinemaScope .Hence the reason the full width of the CinemaScope screen wasn't used.
Hope that helps.
Never mind coming in 5 minutes before the film is it not worse when people go to previews and come in 15 minutes into the film thinking that they will miss the ads and trailers but don't realise that there are no ads and trailers at previews.(that would make a good topic "the latest a person ever came into a preview screening" 25 minutes into Hitchcock at Hamilton Vue is the best I've seen) And the whole row has to get up to let them in.
