Oz the Great and Powerful

This was mainly quite good, with some of the best 3d I've seen since Pi and a good lead performance from Franco. But as much as i like Mila Kunis, i thought her character was the weakest, and some of the dialogue awful. Because of the decent set pieces and special effects, I'd give this a 7/10.

Have to say I really enjoyed it, visually it was pretty spectacular and (as others have already said) the 3D was very effective.

It was quite a bit darker (tonally speaking) than I was expecting and I particularly enjoyed Mila Kunis's performance as the emotionally disturbed Theodora (sorry sikmansam ).

Time wise I didn't think it outstayed it's welcome so overall it's an 8/10 from me...

I totally agree. I loved the film and it didn't feel it dragged at all.

Quite surprised at the darker elements also, but I thought it was done in a way that was suitable for children, and yet didn't seem silly to adults.

The 3D was something else. Very impressive and realistic, and at times had me jumping out of my seat.

9/10 for me

I quite enjoyed myself. James Franco is definitely the go-to person if you want someone to speak with a CG monkey. Also, I thought Mila Kunis was actually pretty damn great here - although I didn't want to talk about it in the review for fear of spoiling things.

Well I quite liked this -- not completely sold on it as didn't think the wicked witches were wicked enough but it was entertaining and glad we made the trip to the O2. We were told the balcony was full when we arrived at 10.10 am though I heard this wasn't true (as usual) as eumenides said there was a pair in front of her which we would have happily taken. We ended up downstairs with a family next to us who ate copious amounts of food before and during the film and acted as if they were sitting at home and chatted loudly throughout. Followers of the Wittertainment Code of Conduct they were not!

We were very happy to meet eumenides after the screening and look forward to seeing her again at the FMUK gathering next month.

Was treated to the first 10 minutes of Oz, entering Oz today before seeing Hansel and Gretel.
I must say...it looks amazing!
Loved the trip down river and all the musical plants and that strange fairy!

I arrived at 9.55am and the queue for the balcony was still very long, I was behind about 15 people and at 10am they said it was full and asked everyone to go downstairs. Luckily, Beate saved me a seat, thanks Beate! But I saw a few single seats dotted here and there, so they were obviously counting tickets rather than people. It was lovely to catch up with bevvy too, but it was pretty annoying to have security, asking you to turn you mobiles off at 9.55am, every five minutes! We get it, why don't they just say it five minutes before the start of the film, which they did anyway!

An interesting fantasy, beautiful to watch and the 3D is good for a change. But however, what a weak script and some bad casting for two of the main characters, James Franco and Mila Kunis. They seem so miscast, I just did not feel James Franco as Oz is a strong enough actor to carry the title of the film Oz the Great and Powerful, he is just not believable as a character with a change of heart and comes across rather sleazy and slimy, and Mila Kunis, is so wooden, it just did not make me care for them at all. However, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams were great as the good and bad witches. It also felt far too long. And was that china doll meant to be a little girl, she looked a lot older! The talking sidekick Monkey is funny though.

Visually amazing and 3D was pretty good too, but unfortunately as far as the story goes, I found it boring. Determination to see what cool 3D they came up with and hope that it would turn around kept me from falling asleep.

Saw Oz at the Cineworld O2 and got to sit in the balcony I've read so much about; it was very nice to have a mini table to rest our Minstrels upon in any case. Anyway, I thought this looked glorious in 3D and apart from a 10 minute section where things lost their way a bit I was kept entertained. Strong performances from all the witches especially Rachel Weiss and Mila Kunis (who had cool prosthetics). Franco was ok but got overshadowed by Braff's monkey and I didn't see that coming. Special treat at the end of the performance was hanging out with David and ejwrank, the Hackney posse though we had to do a runner pretty quickly afterwards. 8/10

Loved the 3D, I didn't feel like it dragged at all and I enjoyed watching the whole cast. Actually, I was shocked by how much I liked it, not my usual thing, really.
