I enjoyed the first episode, though was frustrated by my husband who kept asking questions. I didn't have all the answers, so frustrated him. Overall, characters introduced and promises of things to come.

Not being a Marvel comic reader, your text went way over my head. I took it for what it is - an entertaining piece of nonsense, with one charismatic agent (Coulson) and the rest interchangeable pretty boys and girls (Fitz sounded like Simon Pegg as Scotty - why are Scots suddenly in fashion in Hollywood?). The plot was thin but there was a good dose of humour there. I'd say though that without Agent Coulson it wouldn't be nearly as much fun. "He doesn't know. He must never know." That line alone will make me keep watching.

I am no Marvel historian, but those in the know seem to argue that Coulson [spoiler]was likely a clone of himself in Avengers or is now a clone with fake memories (including Tahiti) in Agents...[/spoiler]

I haven't seen any of the films that this series relates to, but it looks really interesting. Should i watch the films first before watching this or would it be better to go in blind?

I think if you watch The Avengers, that would be best. The others are really up to you. The Avengers will give you a bit of the backstory.
