Re: Frozen
A multimedia screening is press combined with other things, this morning it was a shared Bafta screening I think. But yes, I won a comp.

Re: Frozen
Multimedia screening is a preview screening organised for press and invited guests; the kind of screenings when they have fun in the foyer when it's a kiddie movie :)

Re: Frozen
Finally Disney have released the full version of "Let It Go" by Idina Menzel (Elsa) and not just the end credits of the same song as sung by Demi Lovato... Stunning performance:

Re: Frozen
I can't remember the last animated movie I liked this much. Loved the songs, the characters and the story, and I thought it's great for kids and adults alike - a perfect family movie as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Frozen
Yesterday, just as I was thinking I was going to miss a preview of this as I'm working next Saturday, I noticed that the Barbican were showing it today as part of the Framed Film Festival. Surprisingly they still had some tickets left so I grabbed a ticket.
So glad I did too. Though I'm not sure if I'd consider this a Disney classic just yet, it is a wonderful film (so I'd happily sit through it again to decide).
Witty and visually stunning with some decent songs, a comedy sidekick that isn't too annoying and some unexpected twists and turns which help keep it a cut above the average. Which came as a relief as the trailers have been fairly underwhelming. Olaf the Snowman in particular wasn't quite as annoying as I feared (and I'm not a huge fan of Josh Gad). Lots of highlights, including the majority of the ice and snow animation which is beautifully rendered and Idina Menzel's show-stopping 'Let it Go'.
The post-credits scene was short but cute but an added bonus for the eagle-eyed was a disclaimer just before that
Along the lines of the opinion of Kristoff that all men eat their boogers not being shared by the Walt Disney corporation.
The Mickey Mouse short before was fun too, a technically impressive mix of original black and white animation with a modern 3D style.

Re: Frozen
Lovely film but the ' Mickey needs a horse ' short film must be one of the best 3D movies, mixing old and new, black and white with colour, amazing, I actually felt sorry for the people in the next screen who had pa*d to see Frozen in 2d and missed this.

Re: Frozen
I saw it again this morning and still agree with all my initial thoughts, I even picked up some little things I didn't spot the first time. Songs, jokes and animation were all fantastic but story still felt lethargic in the beginning. 9.5/10 once again.funthing29 wrote:It has been a while since I have been so charmed and impressed with an animated film (Tangled and Despicable Me are the only recent efforts that come to mind).
This had everything a family film should have: great characters, breathtaking animation (the crispness of the snow and ice looked incredible), catchy tunes sung by talented vocalists, a heartwarming story, and genuinely funny moments (Olaf the snowman steals the show and is downright hilarious). I would like to give this 10/10 (a true rarity from me!) but even though I found it delightful, I thought it was a little bit slow to get going in the beginning so it gets awarded with 9.5/10 (which is my highest rated film of 2013).
Well done, Disney, well done indeed.
