Out Of The Furnace
Re: Out Of The Furnace
I thought the reason I couldn't stomach this film was because I was getting old, coupled with the fact I was not feeling too well.
"Glad" to hear other film-goers found this hard going and a bit too violent.
It reminded me of "The Fighter" but more gritty/slow-moving/violent.

Re: Out Of The Furnace
Saw this last night at Glasgow. Did not enjoy this at all and found it to be long and boring. Like other people have commented, I felt no sympathy for the characters at all and missed much of what they were saying as they mumbled throughout. Very disappointing especially when such a good cast were involved.

Wow!
What a film packed with scenes of brutal violence to be fair I think it was well directed acted in regards to The 3 main roles however I didn't understand who Saldana and Whittaker were in tis story. Very slow coutryfied pace which was obvious ly to illustrate the essence of progress in the town.
2nd film I've seen this year 3/5 from me.

Re: Out Of The Furnace
My immediate reaction was "miserable". I expected at least 50% time spent in wreaking vengeance with a finale of molten metal poured over the excellent Woody Harrelson. It should have been called , "a boring docusoap about industrial america". I like background info, makes the characters real but apart from Woody, it was a waste of money. I would have to say "woody whitaker" should have stayed away. The entire prison story was unneccessary.
There was no explanation as to why the vehicle was ambushed, surely the bad guy wanted his money and can't get it from a dead man.
I dont remember any soundtrack. In contrast American Hustle. seen this week, had a fantastic soundtrack. Do not waste your life by watching this.

Watched this last night at Edinburgh Cineworld. I think this is the 2nd time I have been there and they have not brought down the lights. How hard is it to dim lights? Anyway film was not great however I do think the acting from the 2 main leads was. Thank god for that as it at least made the 2 hours interesting. To many lesser unnecessary stories in this film should have concentrated on the revenge part more. Was I the only one let down by such an awful ending? 3/10

Re: Out Of The Furnace
Such wasted potential. A good cast were casted. A better paced storyline could have made this much more intense and compelling rather than the end result which is dull and aimless. 4/10.

Re: Out Of The Furnace
It wasn't a great movie and it had far too much violence and bad language in it for my taste, but I thought it was an ok movie. Then again, anything with Christian Bale in it gets my vote! Woody Harrelson played the psycho back woodsman just right.
Thanks to Teddybear1 for the code to see this one. Sorry you didn't make it there yourself. You were missed.
Is it just me or does Christian Bale look as if he could be James Brolin's love child?
6/10
