We got a looped trailer, complete with no or tinny sound (yes I did titter when Mr B was speaking with a faint Alvin the Chipmuck Voice) which stopped after about 10 minutes, some red carpet footage, cut out half way then back again, finally the film!

Were seated in a bigger screen than normal for free previews which was nice. Very full.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film but wouldn't give it quite 10/10.

Quite simply the very best film of the year so far. BC was excellent and is surely up for many nominations for his excellent portrayal. Unbelievable in this day and age to see how he was treated. I for one am still trying to get my head round the fact that one man, Turing, could actually conceive of and build such a machine...... An amazing true story about a truly exceptional man.

Octogenarian Daddy also thoroughly enjoyed this film and we had a lot of discussion about various aspects of the story on the way home.

Loved this movie and it would be unfair to give it any less than a 10.5/10!

Saw this in a packed Glasgow Cineworld tonight even though it was their largest screening room.
I thought this film was superb! Obviously the story is true so no complaints possible and the acting by all was excellent, though Benedict Cumberbatch was outstanding! By coincidence I had watched a tv documentary about Enigma within the last week so was partially prepared for the film. I learned even more about the real people and am certainly motivated to learn even more.
I would have happily pa*d to see this and may well do just to see it again.
Marks 10/10 I suspect this might be my film of the year! :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

I was looking for BC wearing a gas mask while riding a bike, as that was how Turing dealt with his hayfever. Sadly I was disappointed, still its a very good movie.

Stunningly good film. A brilliant portrayal by Benedict Cabbagepatch who seemed to transform into Alan Turing as soon as he appeared on screen. Never once did I see BC as I watched.
Keira Knightdress was also very believeable.

A bloody disgrace is all that I can say about how this country of ours treated him and all those others that we were informed about at the close of the film. I watched and read in stunned silence along with the whole cinema.
Highly emotive and emotional.

Film was excellent, but no red carpet Q&A bit before we were told due to bad weather it wasn't possible, did anyone have the bit before the film somewhere in the UK?

We didn't get the Q&A before the film at Milton Keynes.

However, free tickets were given for another 2D performance at Cineworld after the film finished.

Not told it was the Rain, just a glitch.

I didnt arrive until 7.50pm at a packed Didsbury but they were showing an interview with BC and he seemed very passionate about playing the part and then took the microphone and spoke to the fans waiting in the rain, which I thought was really nice of him. We also got a Paddington trailer after the BC interview, the film looks really funny, hopefully we will get a preview for it :cross:

I loved the film, great story and acting by everyone, the audience was engrossed throughout the film. I knew the basics, but the film showed so much more I didnt know. We have an Alan Turing Way in Manchester which always makes me think of him when I travel on it, will probably do more so now I know the full story. So tragic he killed himself so young because of how things were in those days.

We got bits and pieces of the footage before the film in Ipswich. Many tech problems, apparently the weather was very bad where the satellite link originated.

The couple next to me rather spoilt things, he said loudly to his wife (I presume) before the film started "he committed suicide didn't he", so bang goes the ending for me, then she chuckled many times, seemed to find most of the film funny, well I did too, but not the dramatic bits lol, rather annoying!

I thought it was pretty good. Cumberbatch was brill - as was Knightley (whose casting as a genius mathematician I was a little sceptical of). But it felt way too Oscar-baity for me, like all the rough edges had been sanded away. Dialogue like "sometimes it is the people who no-one imagines anything of, who do the things no-one can imagine" is unforgivably clunky.

Also the film seemed rather afraid of actually showing Turing in any act of affection towards another man, I think to avoid an R rating in the US. Seems a bit cowardly.

So my verdict: Good, but insubstantial 6/10.
