Well if the cinema cannot turn the lights off then it is not fit to call itself a cinema and the screening should have been postponed. Of course people shouldn't threaten staff but from what yogi said and yogi was there, this did not happen. It seems far too many cinemas seem incapable of showing a film properly and people have every right to complain about that.

As for calling 'mature' people at Times and Telegraph behaving disgracefully, The Sparrow, I haven't seen any of that at the two Telegraph screenings I have been to recently. Everyone behaved politely and gratefully in spite of the terrible Millbank cinema which is the only disgrace I witnessed. It is uncomfortable, terrible sound, awful sightlines and it's painted white so the cinema is never dark.

For anyone who was there or is at a screening where something similar happens (lights on, focus issues etc) I'd recommend a polite email saying how disappointed you are that the chain hasn't met it's usual standards. Sometimes you get a thank you for the feedback, but occasionally you get free passes.

Contrary to what one of my non-FMUK friends says, just because something is free doesn't mean it should be sub standard.

Saw at Millbank on 18/11 via Telegraph. Excellent film with a good storyline and great acting. Film was captivating from start to finish and was one of the best that I have seen this year.

yogi wrote:Good performances and some nice directorial touches especially one near the end as Tom Hanks looked out of the window of the train which masterful and classic Spielberg.
Best preview in ages but this was my only nitpick, after the story ended I was hoping Spielberg would get out of the movie quickly without doing something rote.

The smile on the train was pushing it but I really didn't need to see kids jumping over the fences to get that it was Berlin.

Saw Bridge of Spies last night and I really enjoyed it. Splielberg back with is great craftsmanship (great photography too) and very solid performance from Tom Hanks. Could it have been more thrilling? Sure, but the screenplay is from the Choen brothers which is why you should expect the touches of humour here and there.
Very entertaining and would definitely recommend. Half of the theatre started clapping when the titles rolled so I assume it was a common feeling.
Probably the best movie I have seen this year together with "The Martian"

I do enjoy a good true story and this was a good true story. It really caught the atmosphere of the era. Recommended.

Saw in a packed Braehead cinema tonight. Thoroughly enjoyable film. No James Bond type spies or gadgets . . .just good old fashioned spies! Tom Hanks was excellent as Donovan . . .the older he gets, the better he gets!
Probably my film of the year so far! Definitely worth seeing even if you have to p*y!

Tom Hanks always delivers so no surprise there but despite it being a smaller part Mark Rylance was excellent--mind you everyone was good-I especially liked the episode where the son tells his father how to survive a nuclear explosion should also mention the excellent filming of the various locations - here Spielberg always delivers/

I liked it but I looked at my watch quite often. It was extremely slow going and not actually too suspenseful until the end. Did I miss a title card somewhere? We started in 1957 and all of a sudden the Berlin Wall was built so we jumped four years. The lovely Sebastian Koch played the terribly mispronounced Vogel guy, and I wondered why no one at production thought subtitles were necessary for all the German spoken? Was it all self-explanatory? Because it didn't make sense that one minute they told Hanks that his passport and visa were correct and he could go through, and the next minute, in the speeding car with Vogel, they told him there was a passport problem. How come?

This could and should have been shortened in several places.
