I wouldn't call it a remake. Since a different story with different characters. Reboot possibly.

yes "lazy reboot" might be right but that's not necessarily a putdown, thinking Casino Royale was an awesome lazy reboot.

Are you including me because I used the word ogling in trying to impartially explain the joke to clear up the misunderstanding that sexism has to be present/exist for the joke to work, so you can't just say it's not part of the movie.

Do you see the irony in excusing the joke because it's happened to another sex for years or presuming what attitude somebody is taking based on their sex? If you don't respond with balance it creates a division which gives 'ghostbros' the mojo they need to continue spouting whatever point it is they are trying to make rather than accepting the joke.

You can make an argument that the movie is a sequel, in early plot synopsis that got every story point correct they had Kate McKinnon's character down as Egon's daughter, they may have changed their minds on fully committing to that but the seeds are there.

that's possibly how I will choose to interpret it once I've seen it, but I'll hold on committing to that for now.
