I like Vue Westfield, always get a good view,and screen one Empire Leicester Square. Curzon Soho was rather good, I've only been there once.

Now to turn it around, worst is Pants Street, that rubbish screen at Empire Leicester Square where they showed Inception and sadly Gate Nottinghill. Lookes great and old fashioned but, dreadful views

I remember a charming experience at The Little Theatre cinema in Bath. I drove there from Birmingham for a day trip to see Amadeus: The Director's Cut because it was the only cinema I could find that was showing it (other than Glasgow and Edinburgh!)
The cinema was tucked away down a little cobbled alleyway.
I purchased a ticket from an elderly red-uniformed man in a little booth. Then I had to immediately give my ticket to a second elderly uniformed man who had just watched me b*y the ticket from the other chap. The second white-haired gentleman then showed me into the auditorium, politely chatting away.
The cinema was charming and old-fashioned, though still comfortable with good sound. I loved being able to see (and particularly hear) Amadeus in the cinema, and it was a lovely experience.

It's funny how we perceive cinemas when we get older. Comfort is so important to me now, and that I have a good, uninterrupted view. When I was in my teens I used to go to the cinema an awful lot, and the cinema in my hometown was old-fashioned and had no incline to speak of. I couldn't have cared less back then. The cinema sold an annual discount card for their 4 screens and as it was only 8 deutschmarks and practically the only good cinema in town, it was a cracking deal. This was before our cinema experience was Americanised so no coke, hotdogs or even popcorn was available - all you could have were sweets and chocolate bars from the small kiosk at the till.

There was however one of the 4 screens I loved the most, and that was the smallest. It was totally unique in that it doubled up as a bar during cinema times and actually, I kid you not, served you pizzas, Toast Hawaii and big icecream sundaes during the film. Each twoseater had a small table with a tiny lamp in front, and the waitress would take the order before the film and serve during the first minutes of the film, trying very hard not to obstruct anyone's view. There was never a question of whether to eat before or after the film - you just had a meal during it! I absolutely loved it (although now the constant interruptions and place scrapers would probably irritate the hell out of me), but back then it was the ultimate unique film experience.

The cinema has long since modernised and furnished all screens with a steep incline etc, but this screen has survived. I took the OH a few years back and he was gobsmacked. Ah, good old times...

It was my first time today in Screen 1 at Cineworld Haymarket, rather charming room, plenty of leg room, not bothered by the person seating in front of you...
that has to become my 2nd favourite screen in London, just after Empire Leicester Square Screen 1!

and that even smaller leicester one was even worse. i was quick to get a refund from my Solomon Kane screening there.

thing is, how can they justify charging £12 for a film when you get to sit in a room the size of a kitchen?

horrible. if i spent my money for a year or so there... dread to think. With the money saved i could b*y a projector for better home viewing than that.

In terms of comfort seating, I dont think any can beat the Electric in Notting Hill. It has leather armchair sofas that recline, has a side table and a leather footstool to stretch out on. At the back of the auditorium is the bar which sells exotic munchies and you can even order a full dinner, like bangers and mash, to take to your seat before the film starts. Luxury to the max. You p*y for the exprience though, £15 which actually is still cheaper than Odeon leicester square circle ticket prices. The only thing is, the armchairs are quite spaced out from each other, so there is a little isolation from your partners/friends, so if you are a cosy couple that like to be right next each other while watching a movie, this aint quite the choice for you! But otherwise, you feel like king/queen for 2 hours. The screen is decent size and sound system was good by the way. I loved it but my absolute favourite Empire screen 1 for its sheer grandeur, big screen and brilliant sound system
