Re: Moving to University
dont p*y to join any society yet.
dont b*y any books until later on when you know what books you prefer, and you know where to get em cheap.
dont b*y a computer if you live on campus - the computer rooms are usually adequate for study at a ecent sized uiniversity. mind you, you may have one already!

Re: Moving to University
dont b*y stuff from the university, its usually overpriced.
find the little pocket town/district thats near coventry where the cheapest shops are, and shop there for everything you need.
dont bother with a tv licence or tv, you can watch it all on university or your own computer, and sports are usually covered in the bars.

Re: Moving to University
Just a couple tips from when I was at uni a few years back.
1. NUS Card – Which gets you discount in a bunch of different retail shops. Well worth it I would say. 10-30% off – This is mainly got from the Student Union
2. Microsoft products like Office and Windows can be b*ght for dirt cheap at Uni. Ask around in the IT department, they should know about stuff like that.
3. Studentbean.com or .co.uk is a decent site to keep you upto date with everything and anything student related. From holiday discount to you say it they prolly got it. Also if they have a forum its worth checking that out to see what other students are having issues with and recommending ect.
And oh Congrats for getting into uni this year, as I was reading an article when the a level results came out on how hard its getting every year to get.
Also make sure you study hard and play hard. As its not easy when coming out of uni finding and keeping a job.

Re: Moving to University
learn to cook, it will save you 3/4 of your loan thats left once rent is pa*d. And your non-cooking flatmates will love you for it. you may already be cooking, mind!
go out with the right social circles, or you may end up spending too much on a night out. if you hang with the posh crowd, you are likely going to p*y for taxis when you'd rather have walked 500m, and and p*ying for expensive events through sheer social inertia.

Surprisingly i dont have all too many family mementos cause my parents are really big on keeping things like that :/ ive got some pictures on my phone that i could print off and stick up
yeah ive done a scout of the area, the coventry market looks veery good, sells alot of fresh fruit and meat :) for cheap too!
primark will definitely be my best friend x) ive got a few cushions i can take with me :)
and CVs! already done raj
went up a whole month before with about 50 and handed them out with the dates ill be available
by the looks of it, ive got my hooks in at nandos :)
and suppllies wise, im going to use the university trade sites for some books if they are avilable, but ill get all of my supplies off amazon since they tend to be the cheapest option :)
ive had a letter from the uni saying not to b*y anything until they tell us we need it, so i guess they're trying to save us money too :)

Re: Moving to University
TV licences and computers -
you dont need one unles you watch a broadcast being shown at the scheduled time. ie if you watch News at Ten online at 10 o clock, then you need a licence.
so you can watch any online show thats not being broadcast at that time on normal tv.
the only problem with this is sports, which you need to watch live to enjoy.- well,. the uni bars are their for a reason hehe!
you might want to check the broadband connection in your digs - usually they are adequate but idid hear a few horror stories in some halls that the connections are horrendously slow and useless for tv.

Re: Moving to University
its 101 % lol
you seem pretty pro active about universitry anyway, better show than the clueless medics we have here. most of them couldnt cook an omlette or budget shop for toffee.
