My friend in Australia goes to writing conventions in Melbourne all the time, making me very jealous. Not only does it mean lots of free books, getting books signed by amazing authors and listening to fascinating author talks but there are also many workshops where established authors teach you valuable things from the writing and publishing industries and sometimes even look at your work and give critique.

Amazon WArehouse are doing reburbished Kindles for £116 3g and £80 wifi, hmmmm

Watch out with Kindles as they will only play Amazon b*ght books or converted downloads. My ereader (which was 189EUR a few years ago, must be cheaper now) plays everything. From .lit, .pdf and .mobi to .doc and .epub.

ebooks come in a lot of different formats (just like documents can come in .rtf, .doc. docx. etc). Kindle is the ereader from Amazon (full name Amazon Kindle) and they have their own type of ebooks.
