Not Receiving Email Alerts

I think first thing is to remind people to only subscribe to alerts for the really important topics like Free Films or Free Theatre/Concerts. No one needs to subscribe to Swap Central or Comps, they can just be checked normally.

You can only tell them, they don't have to comply... If you want to go down that route though, can you enforce that but making those threads not subscribeable?

I don't think you can but I am appealing to people's better nature? I know that's naive but some people might not realise that them subscribing to everything will mean we will go over our email notification limit.

True, but if they rarely post or visit the forum unless they get an alert, they are likely to miss this appeal too.

I think the other subscriptions are fine, really. It's just that obviously the Free Films one is so popular, what's happening is when there's a kerfuffle there - like a code being posted twice within minutes, that can trigger more than the 1000.

Thank you for this link. I was amazed at how much I had subscribed to that I no longer needed to be signed up for.

If people don't get all the alerts now, you can blame the chatters we had on Free Films today for taking us over over alert quota. People, it is VITAL that you read the rules about what not to post on there. More tickets available also does NOT go on Free Films, it goes in the more tickets available thread but WITHOUT the codes.
