Tenerife can actually be gorgeous if you don't stay in one of the few disgusting holiday resorts; definitely worth getting a car and driving around.
My worst nightmare was Djerba (Tunisia)!

I agree, we spent a great week in Garachico - a proper Spanish town away from all the reorts. Great stuff.

Tenerife by day is nice.. Tenerife by night.. especially round the bars is actually pretty scary. I went 2 yrs ago, some lads I met their (The Ex) got beat up by the bouncers, got all together £1300 pound taking off their debit cards when they pa*d for drinks on it., which they did not realise til they got home.. Wont be heading back there in a hurry. Prague and New Orleans are my favourite destinations so far :O) x

See if they can get a deal with Travelodge its only £19 a night if you book more than 3 weeks in advance. I stayed in the one just off Liverpool St which was pretty nice.

Only 2 weeks till we go on holiday! Counting down as the weather here is just yuck!

Where are you going to? Please tell me the rubbish weather is getting better as I'm going to Holland in 3 weeks I know I'm visiting my friend but good weather would help.

I've just booked for a couple of days in Edinburgh in November, does anyone know is it walking distance from Waverley station to the Castle? It looks like it is on the map but I've just checked re getting a taxi and have been quoted £12 suggesting its much further than it looks. We arrive on a Sunday at 13:45 and would love to visit the castle on that day so would ideally need to get there before 15:00.

Thanks to Celini for the trip advisor re London hotels as I'm also trying to do an overnight stay in London in November as I want to watch Love Never Dies.

Also doing a day trip to Birmingham in November for The L'Occitane event (I know not a holiday but thought I'd ask), is there anywhere special that I should visit while I'm there as I've never been before.

I've got quite a few days leave left hence trying to plan nice things or I'll lose them.

I haven't been there myself but Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is famous for its collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings. They seem to have a lot of other interesting stuff as well. Admission free

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Marrakech? Planning to go during the Christmas break and looking for something 4/5* although will consider 3*.

I'm taking my parents so the standards will have to be really high else my Mum and Dad will never stop complaining.
