Re: Les Misérables
Was asked for paper in my local showcase. Surprised to see a sizeable queue when I get there at 6pm but those with papers get in straight away. We were allowed to getting in about 15 mins before the show and I managed to get my favourite seat at the far back and there were a few seats left in the front.
I really enjoyed the movie and musicals. loved that audiences clapped at the end. Read the book a couple of times but never seen the stage show. Ordered a bluray copy of 25th anniversary performance at the O2 last night and will watch it this weekend( if I can get it by then - haven't had anything through post for 9 days now, strange)

Re: Les Misérables
Small round of applause at Wimbledon, so that's the second Tom Hooper film I've seen that had applause afterwards.newdot wrote:ps spontaneous round of applause at nottingham at the end of the film, well deservered.
the only other time i have ever witnessed this at a film was for Fatal Attraction, (dreadful revenge fantasy)...showing my age.
Lovely to see Kaybeelon in the queue already - not that we got in any quicker. The very efficient Usher let the people with the paper go in first, then us - we were still in not long after 6pm. He then sorted out empty seats and got people seated very quickly. MInd you, a guy behind me pretended he had a seat, then sat on the floor

Re: Les Misérables
Fantastic movie - I felt like I should applaud when it finished - haha but since no one else did I kept quiet - thought it was brilliant though . . .
Re: Les Misérables
Was very happy to get in and get a good seat at Wimbledon despite not having the paper !

Here's my review. I enjoyed it, but there's some big problems with the narrative that I guess are also present in the musical. Still, Anne Hathaway was spectacular, worth sitting through 3 hours just to see her performance.

Great point about the stagey feel of the barricade sequence and how the decision to shoot 'I Dreamed A Dream' in one close up shot worked so well, but became less and less effective through overuse later on.

Re: Les Misérables
Well after a very long stand at Kingston we finally got let in. If they'd have sent us all away the screen would have been 3/4 empty! In fact at the end there were still some empty seats so a load of hoo ha for nothing!
The film I thought was excellent though I might have enjoyed it more if 1. I'd had ay legroom and wasn't in pain with my knees 2. The chatting biddies behind me who had to discuss something after almost every song. I mean really? I heard them say they go to lots of previews in which case they should know not to talk and also how can we expect kids and teenagers to sit quietly when us who should set the example don't. It really ruined some of the most emotional moments for me.
I have to say I thought Anne Hathaway was just amazing I could have sobbed and sobbed during that song but I realised I was holding my breath she deserves an Oscar. Well many oscars for this film I think.

Saw at metrocentre. 75% full
Sound far too loud so enhanced crowes crowing which was brutal in the loudness.
Not for me at all.
Disappointing some of it 5/10. Hathaway was good tho and jackman but the crowe ruined it
