I went for the real genuine bright red leather, which is actually real synthetic leather

So KIndle is up and running, I've got to figure how to make it brighter. So book spree commenced.

For Kindle, I got 2 crime thrillers by Neil White, I've read his first book and enjoyed it. Also I got The Crimson Petal and the White, loved the TV adaptation. Finally I got A Clash of Kings, second in the Game of Thrones series,

I also got an audio book for the mp3 player, a Reginald Hill book. I've never read him, but I do enjoy Dalziel & Pascoe.

I had then get a DVD so got The Good Wife

I am afraid you can't... it's supposed to be bright enough, maybe there is a problem with it?!

edit: you can't read in the dark (or if it's too dark in the room) as it is not a computer screen; you can read only in the conditions you could read a normal book
(if this is not the case, there is a problem with your Kindle)

the screen is purposely darker than say a computer screen as ereaders use gray tones to make the reading experience more like that of an actual book and without becoming painful on the eyes when reading for many hours in a row. You can b*y a reading light for an ereader for a few quid that can be attached to it just like you'd do with a book.

The page isn't white, its sort of a beige grey colour wich isnt very nice to look at

Thanks so much :) I don't always write lengthy reviews if I don't have time and I certainly didn't write reviews for the books I initially added that I read in the past (just a star rating but not even always that) either. Until a few months ago I would copy long reviews onto my book blog, but I just haven't had time to keep up with that...

To sort by rating: If you click on one of your shelves, for instance "read", it will list all the books on that shelf. Than you can click any of the tabs at the top, including "rating" to sort the list.

that will be cool, and I can bring mine. I tink Super 8 at Whitelys is my next and only film so far.

I know I've being super picky but the page going black with white writing when turning the page, and,the click it makes, are seriously annoying me. I'm going to leave it for now, until I get my holder, and finish my current book, then start with an open mind again

I was planning to watch it at Greenwich, but if you need a +1 for Whiteleys I would happily join there and give my tickets away for Greenwich!
That said, all the symptoms you describe sounds very much like Kindle_normal_behaviour... there is maybe no problem with your Kindle, but rather you just don't like it
