I watched that too, the Queen's reaction was hilarious but I completely understand where she is coming from because that was what struck me at first too, a headless ghost! But I felt sorry for the escorters around her who probably were the main architect of the exhibition. The presentation around it looks stunning and I see what they are trying to convey with the presentation of the dress. If they dont have the mannequins neck showing, it would be much better. Its that chopped off neck that gives it a macabre look. Perhaps they should have hung the dress on wire frame, with a wire extended to hold the crown above.

Look forward to your review of it Diane, and the rest of your tour ;)

It certainly was worth p*ying to see it, it is so beautiful and the intricate detail on the lace is perfection itself, her heels were 5" and those ear rings are stunning. We were also mesmerised by the cake which is 8 tiers high and truly spectacular the top three tiers were remade for the display, they ate the third layer and kept the top two for the christening cake.
The Royal Faberge collection was amazing although not as big a collection as I imagined the eggs were spellbinding, one of the eggs was made out of a platinum mesh with a stone in between every single hole including diamonds and sapphires this was made favourite piece.
The Palace itself is wonderful and lovely to see without the collections and afternoon tea would be perfect overlooking the gardens; it is suprisingly reasonably priced (on a par with John Lewis prices) and from previous experience the cakes are delicious.

Sorry for the delay in my response but been so tired after living life to the full at the weekend and not taking enough time off work.

Yes Zara getting married here in Edinburgh today but maximum of 2,000 people only can line the street to see her!! We have thousands and thousands of tourists here at the moment so will be mobbed. No Hello deal so will just have to see what pictures we can see.

Fabulous day in Edinburgh today. Daughter is bridesmaid at another wedding and I am going to it tonight so wont be looking at or thinking of royalty today.

LBC has just been discussing this: they don't get anything from the Royal purse, so think they should have been able to do what they like.

Good luck to the happy couple and glad to hear it's sunny in Edinburgh today!

Edit: Best man and groom have arrived. Best man has a shiner :).

The bridesmaids looked cute and I thought the dress, what I saw of it, looked very elegant....From the brief glimpse, I preferred it to Kate's, it looked sleeveless (but not 100% sure, as I thought Royals weren't allowed to show arms) and looked less fussy. But I'm probably the only one in the world who prefers it.

Edit: It is sleeveless.

Daughter told me Zara's dress was made in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire where she grew up. My sister-in-law and her family live there (great name Minchinhampton!) and my niece went to playschool with her and apparently once hit Zara. So that is our only, rather dubious, claim to royal fame.
