I think yesterday's loss of life in Norway is far more tragic than someone who had every opportunity to avoid this outcome. RIP those poor souls who were truly lost in tragic circumstances.

This so much. I'm kind of disappointed that so many people (not on here, but on Twitter and mostly "celebrities") say how sad they are for her loss but then completely ignore the utter tragedy that happened in Norway, which I'm still in shock about. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that it's not a loss either way but this was hardly a big surprise after her continuous drug/alcohol abuse, which was all self inflicted. Those 90+ mostly kids in Norway? Completely innocent and unexpectedly taken away from their loved ones.

True but what you've got to understand is that it's very difficult to compute the loss of 90 people you didn't know, whereas we have all heard of Amy Winehouse and can put a face to the name. That's why every catastrophe film picks a few people to concentrate on so we can start to build a relationship with them and care about the outcome.

had been talking about it earlier, it makes me feel sick what happened in norway, sick sick sick and of course i am horribly saddened by it, you'd have to be sick not to be. with amy winehouse she has had a direct effect on my life though i never met her in person i saw her and know people who were close to her so i won't be apologising to anyone for being more vocal on that subject than on the other. it doesn't mean i don't care about the other thing at all. i can't get my head around it tbh.

personally i think any death is pretty much a tragedy for the person involved, its the end of their life, which is pretty major in my book! no life, no anything, no second chances once they dead, it matters not a jot what appraisal we place on them or how unfair we think it is, not to to the dead person. thats probably just my healthcare training kicking in, where favouritism for treatment is anathema in the profession.

Aruif, dont feel not one ounce of guilt for expressing your sadness more for poor Amy. She was self destructive but did anyone ask why?

RIP Amy Winehouse. Loved her voice, loved her songs and an extroadinarily talented artist who strove for perfection. She was elite. Her lyrics were powerful but strangely mirroring her life which makes one think whether it was an appeal to understand her, or "f**k you, I'll do what I want" or even masochistic. Whatever, I wasnt a fan as such but I do feel for the fans. I also hope her death gives others on similar path, a wake up call to set themselves straight.

I am going to completely ignore the talk about Norway tragedy (which btw is appalling and disturbing the more the news of it unravel and sickens me but so do other tragedies) but its completely irrelevant to Amy Winehouse. To criticise people of caring more about someone who they care about, wether they knew them personally or idiolise them or simply appreciated them, is forgive my bluntless, rather unfair and un-understanding.

So music world celebrities p*y tribute to Amy Winehouse. Why should they express their thoughts of the Norway tragedy PUBLICY, when Winehouse meant more to them as a fellow peer and of relevance to being qouted for?

Once again RIP Amy Winehouse. She harmed no one but herself. Pity no one was capable of helping her to help herself. Probably was a tough task.

Whilst I'd be a heartless b****** not to care for the victims in the Norway tragedy I have to agree that it is normal to feel for someone that you "know" or idolise or are even just aquainted with through performances or the media. Most of us won't have any connections with any of the innocents that were so cruelly cut down by that monster any more than any other tradegy in the world, and unfortunately there are plenty of them on an almost daily basis. We can almost become "immune" to bad news and tragedy and there is also the illusion of grief that is felt towards someone in the public glare that you feel you know but who in reality wouldn't know you from Adam if you were to meet in the street.
It is all relative, but as humans we find ourselves focusing on what we "know".
All life is precious and those poor kids definitely did not deserve to lose theirs. Some might say that Amy chose her lifestyle and ultimately her demise.
Life is precious.

no one chooses to be the way she was. no one knows why she was the way she was either, possibly not even her. i have lost friends to depression, who have killed themselves rather than medicate the way amy winehouse did. none of them ever wanted to harm their family or those who loved them or whom they loved but it is an illness. a serious illness, depression and drug/drink addiction. Some people can not survive it and I give them my fullest sympathy even though I feel frustrated that they can't see what they have to fight for - especially in the light of so many people who are killed who want so much to live.

i think everyone should read this. it made me cry. (read the comments too, there's one from his parents)
