Re: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
yeah the speaking ape thing is unbelieveable, but it would have been odd not to bank that homage to the old movies, and it was done well.
not sure why the chimps sound like Barry White, mind. Chimp screeches are quite high pitched. If they talked they would surely sound more like Joe Pasquale.

Re: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Well at last got to see this film tonight albeit I had to p*y
Went to the Dominion in Edinburgh with my itison voucher. Leather sofas and free soft drink each.
Thoroughly enjoyed it having tried not to read too many reviews about it - other than it was very good - beforehand. Found it annoying could not think where I had seen Brian Cox before but of course he was Hogan in Sharpe!!!
Agree Andy should get an Oscar.
Great night out, would go and see it again tomorrow if I had the chance

Re: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
I actually really enjoyed this film. It was way better than I thought it would be and the action scenes and special effects were nicely done. The free popcorn and drinks in the theatre made the thing even better
! My god I am cheap.

Re: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
OMG - I loved this film and couldn't help discussing it in detail with my 13yr old son all the way home!
As a viewer of the old tv series(showing my age although I was only little) all of my questions where answered as to how the apes evolved into the dominant species and humans died out etc.
Andy Serkis is a bit of a hero of mine and rose to the occassion once again as did the other ape actors, I was dreading the ending as I wanted Caesar and the others to be okay...shan't reveal what happened though!
Hadn't read any reviews because I didn't want it to be spoiled or surprises revealed and glad I didn't....
I too gasped along with the whole audience when the words "Noooooo!" where shouted and during the final touching scene.
I have just come back from seeing real orangutans in Borneo, so really warmed to one of the main guys(Maurice). I love apes and I was vouching for them all through this movie, I liked how it portrayed the humans as animalistic killers, yet the apes showed more humanity by only trying to defend themselves without killing - profound.
A definate summer blockbuster, I too would go and see it again.
From me 10/10
From Sam (13) 10/10

The film was not at all what I was expecting, really enjoyable and the effects were fantastic.
