The Artist silently leads the charge in Oscars race
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/nov ... CMP=twt_fd

I'd been meaning to ask whether The Artist was a silent film all the way through, I've seen the trailer a few times but I didn't know whether it was just for effect for the trailer that there had been no talking.

I'm actually really intrigued by The Artist, I generally stay away from Oscar Bait films but the trailer put a big smile on my face, it seems so warm.

Will George Clooney win the Best Actor Oscar? It's still too early to say as to whether he will beat Jean Dujardin or someone else. I think it will only be clear after the Golden Globes/SAG and I would have thought Meryl Streep would be more of a favourite than Clooney but apparently not (well not yet anyway)

Hmm... I haven't seen any dead certs in most categories yet. Sure The Artist is the front runner, but I think everyone is waiting for the outcome of the SAGs and the Golden Globes

The Golden Globes are not as influential as one might think. All the hype surrounding them is due to its timing. I just hopr that Ryan Gosling will be recognised for his sensational performance in Drive rather than The Ides of March. But politics dictate.
