Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Saw this Paisley tonight. As most have already written, a gentle film. I was very impressed with Ewan McGregor (which I do not usually rate!). I think he looks better the older he's getting and definitely liked him speaking in his Scottish accent. I was not really sure what to expect of this film but admit I was pleasantly surprised!
I loved the "bubble" conversation between the Prime Minister and his Press agent. This seemed highly possible!
Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Not a good premiere experience and considering it was all the way over in Kensington, and only press (not the public) were allowed on the red carpet, I don't see why security was so aggressive and confrontational with us. I saw Ewan and Emily while we were loitering in the foyer.
The film was nice but hardly the Brit comedy of the year. It was light-hearted and well acted but it was a bit cheesy and it was a tad long. Some parts of the story felt a bit contrived. The acting was good, with Kristen Scott Thomas stealing the film and getting all the best lines. 7/10.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
have you got email contacts for the PR people to complain about your treatment? seems they need telling that's not a way to sell their film

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
the thing is they booked 3 screens at Odeon Kensington: Screen 1, 2 (tiny, dusty, air-less room) and 3... screens 2 and 3 being exclusively booked for competition winners!
It looks that they were lots of press so I came to wonder whether they had grouped Premiere and Press screening at the same time
Anyway, I was really upset as I started quite early on to have a panic attack (yeah, I have those some times; poor Funthing, this is the second time I do that to her!) and would have rather gone to a normal (6.30pm) free preview at my local cinema as I originally had tickets for!
Security was despicable but Odeon staff very understanding!
(I understand that the PR was pretty useless at giving informations before the screening anyway, so I doubt they'd acknowledge their blatant cock-up!)

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Loved this film. Thought it had a good mixture of humour / romance and nostalgia.
Kristin Scott Thomas was hilarious - she made the film for me. What a great actress she is.
I read the book and the ending is clearly different but i enjoyed the ending in the film more. Wont say too much.
Cinema at Bluewater was full and my only complaint was that they really need to start the film on time - bad enough sitting there for half hour but if they delay it too.
Great film - well worth seeing.

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
seen this at coatbridge last night and i must say i was pleasantly surprised by it was expecting too much to be honest although i have to agree it is certainly not the brit comedy of the year i would say it was more of a romantic sorta film with a coupke of funny bits added but all in all would give it a 6/10 quite nice and easy to watch

Re: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
I have emailed the lady who gave me the tickets of my experience, having also tweeted last night to the people who ran the comp I won. I hope funthing does the same to her comp organisers. If they don't receive feedback, they won't know that we were not part of the premiere as promised in our comp win, and won't know that this just did not work, separating us from the premiere and press. Not a good experienceelski wrote:have you got email contacts for the PR people to complain about your treatment? seems they need telling that's not a way to sell their film
